I believe a "stubby" ball lock keg is, in fact, a pin lock keg with the posts replaced. Which is fine, except you probably won't get the same number of them into your kegerator as you would proper ball locks.

You're right, they are 23" tall and 9" in diameter, as opposed to 25" tall and 8 1/2" diameter for a typical ball lock.
