I'm experimenting with 1 gallon kits after learning my lesson with 5 gallon kits.

Right now it's a Irish Red Ale. I tried the fizzy drops that came with the kit, using 12 oz bottles. It came out ok, I think, now I want to try the other way.

I'm using the Northern Brewer Priming Sugar Calculator for reference. My question is how much water should I be mixing the sugar in?

If I remember correctly the 5 gallon called for 4 or 5 ounces of water? How much should I use for a 1 gallon, divide by 5? Thanks.

Don't be anal about it. Just use a small amount of water, sufficient to dissolve the sugar. A couple of ozs high or low will not make much difference.

I probably use about 12 ozs for a 6 gallon batch. Put about 2 ozs in a pyrex jug and zap it in the microwave, then dissolve the sugar in the boiling water.
