How much sugar did you use to prime a 1 gallon growler?

Many, if not all, growlers (1/2 gallon or 1 gallon) aren't designed to carb beer in. What you have right there is living proof. Sorry for the lost beer man. Happy no one was injured. Cheers!!!

Yea, I put them in the fridge. I screwed up and assumed 2.6oz of corn sugar was by weight, I guess not. It was for 3 gal.

i think it is usually measured by weight. but the amount of sugar is different for different sized bottles. i think you are supposed to use less priming sugar (per amount of beer) for bigger bottles

You were right. 2.6 oz (by weight) for 3 gallons will give you ~2.5 volumes of CO2. The jugs just aren't made for carbonation. Cheers!!!

The growler certainly has a very thin wall. Lesson learned.

Some try to use wine bottles and end up with the same result. They're not made for carbonation. Champagne bottles? Yes, with a wire cage. Cheers!!!
