    Think I got scammed?

That's what vegetative propagation, such as with rhizomes or stem cuttings, is for.

    Think I got scammed?

Where would the fun be if the offspring were identical to the parents? eBay and Amazon seed ads are mostly scams, unfortunately. Some seed retailers do sell hop seeds, but that's fairly infrequent. My first experience with hops was with these, based out of Ontario.

    New hop varieties

Is neem oil actually registered for use on hops?

    Any canadians growing hops

Can't really compare Europe to Canada just by latitude to predict weather and growing conditions. Europe gets warmed by Atlantic currents, while we get chilled by Arctic ones. Hop bines are renewed every year, you just need your rhizomes to survive. Provided they are in the ground, I'd presume...

    Growing hops from seed

The Viet Cong would be proud. What's the point of all those spikes, though? Seedlings can stay upright much higher than those stick's height?

    Growing hops from seed

Unless a seed lot is particularily small or precious, any seed that don't germinate at about the same time as the first ones is discarded, on the off-chance it's an inheritable trait. Long dormancy is not a practical trait for breeding.

Anyone seen recently off-patent hops for sale? (Amarillo, Simcoe, etc...)

Might take a while because those who own such plants have vested interests in limiting propagation.

    Neomexicanus Medusa/MultiHead variety

France does have some import restrictions for hops, but they are pretty minor. International plant shipping is hardly a rare thing. Though usually done by larger companies, individuals can do it to. I've legally imported hop seeds and cuttings from many countries, with all of the required...

    Above ground planting

A caveat to this though is if you plan on moving the plant early. Once mature, the rootball will be firm enough to roll without significant damage, but a young plant would not be able to hold the soil together if rolled/tumbled. Also, debris is often more a nuisance to the gardener than the...

    Above ground planting

Well, what I was trying to say, simply put, is that if the soil isn't contaminated, then you can take your half-drum, cut off the bottom/top, lay it on the ground (maybe dig a few inches for greater stability), and then fill with soil/substrate. It's almost the same as above ground planting...

    Above ground planting

Unless the soil is contaminated, poor soil (structure/fertility) isn't really a good reason to grow in containers. You can just make a raised bed using better substrate. Container growing has a ton of drawbacks. Although there can be uses (most of my plants are in pots, had hundreds culled to a...

Where are you at? That's pretty important information.

    Saaz

US Saaz is presumed to be the same as Osvald's 72. Saaz Super, never heard of it. There are newer Czech varieties like "Saaz Brillant", but these are distinct, patented, and not locally available in the Americas. L8 and E2 are different, though presumably not much. The other clusters I never...

    exchange of rare rhizomes

Thank you for the clarification, the interaction of phyto requirements and small seed lot exemptions are one I meant to investigate further, but never had to, because the seeds I import are not targeted by any particular phyto restrictions. Even live hop cuttings, last I checked, did not...
