American Porter Bee Cave Brewery Robust Porter

Also, taste it and if the flavor isn't strong enough, just add a tablespoon of extract into the keg or bottling bucket.

American Porter Bee Cave Brewery Robust Porter

I've made quite a few stouts and porters with vanilla and to be honest I don't take very good notes... with that said, I usually split, scrap and cut into 1" pieces 2 vanilla beans. I soak them in vanilla vodka for a day or two and add them into a secondary. The longer the better for me...

American Porter Bee Cave Brewery Robust Porter

Mine keeps getting better with time. It had some slight off tastes when fresh, but that could have been my setup and process. It is one of the best beers I've ever made at this point, but it's also about 6 months old. I have a nice back log of beers so I can afford to spend time when needed.

American Porter Bee Cave Brewery Robust Porter

Here's a pic of mine. I made it with vanilla and am serving on nitro. Very tasty, I'm proud to have brewed this one.

American Porter Bee Cave Brewery Robust Porter

I made the recipe as is, but I added vanilla in the secondary. I have it on a nitro tap and it is delicious. Thanks for the recipe. Now it's time to relax and enjoy.

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

Well, that taste has almost gone away and my father in-law (who hates craft beer and anything without bud light written on it) said it wasn't bad. That is a win in my book. Everyone else has loved it. I also made centennial blonde so it will replace the 3 crops when its gone. I think one of...

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

It's not bad enough for me to add hops. It's just a slight taste. Most people have liked the beer. It's not a bad thing to compare it to Heineken. The flavor is crisp and clean, no after or lingering flavors. Just that slight skunk taste. One of my friends said it tasted like a version...

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

I made this some time back and tried it for the first time last weekend. Mine came out tasting like a mixture of Miller Lite and Heineken. Slight skunky taste. I'm not sure how this happened since my ferm chamber allows no light. Straight to the keg to carb. Is this the normal flavor...

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

This was my first AG batch. I made it per the original recipe. I ended with 10.5 gallons at 1.046 OG. I learned a lot and can't wait to do it again. I ended up doing a 2 hour mash because I waited to long to start heating the sparge water. I split it into 2x 5 gal batches. 1 with US 05 and...

American IPA Dogfish Head 60 Minute Clone (AG) & Extract

I brewed the extract version about 2 months ago. I added gelatin into the keg 10 days ago and now it is crystal clear. The flavor is good, not great, but good. I'm moving to all grain and I'll be making this again. Next time I know this will be great.

American IPA Dogfish Head 60 Minute Clone (AG) & Extract

3 weeks ago I made the extract version w/ 1056. 2 weeks in the ferm chamber at 64F. 1 week at 68F and today I racked it into the secondary with the dry hops. I can't wait to try it. When I made it my OG was a little low @ 1.062 so I added 4 cups of boiled sugar to the party. Hopefully the...

Irish Red Ale Quaffable Irish Red (Extract)

Update: it's been 2 months since I brewed my first batch. As you can see, it's cleared up great. The flavor is fantastic. Do yourself a favor and make this. Batch 2 is ready for the keg when this one taps out.

Irish Red Ale Quaffable Irish Red (Extract)

I made this recipe in December and have been drinking it for a few weeks. It is great and everyone seems to enjoy it as much as I do. I made this recipe again yesterday and I think it may become a stable of the home bar. My only problem is both time I've made it, the OG has been too low...

    Oatmeal Stout Milk Oatmeal Stout

*Update* This beer is damn good. :mug: I highly recommend this to anyone considering making a stout. I did 2 weeks primary (66-68F) and then I racked it onto vanilla beans in the secondary for another week. I cold crashed it my cellar for 3 days at 44F (thanks to winter temps). I then...

    Oatmeal Stout Milk Oatmeal Stout

You can steep at full boil amount or reduce if your pot isn't big enough. I don't think the amount of water changes the end product all that much since this is an extract recipe. I have a 6 gal pot, so I do everything at 5 gal. I typically boil off 1 gal so I top off in the bucket to get...

    Oatmeal Stout Milk Oatmeal Stout

loovenator, I'm new to brewing too and this was my third batch. To answer your first question, yes you added to much water. You want to check the OG and add enough water to get the measurement where you want it. the amount of wort isn't as important as the OG. I'm guessing you didn't add...

    Oatmeal Stout Milk Oatmeal Stout

Thanks for the recipe. I bought all the ingredients yesterday from my LHBS. I swapped the yeast for Notty and the DME for LME (5.7lbs) but the gave me 6 since their cups have pre measured lines. They had DME, but he recommended I only buy their LME since it is fresh. Hopefully he lead me...
