    " Hydrometer test jar"

I think the op is trying to say that he doesn't have that anymore and is looking for a non brewing equipment idea. You can always use some spare PVC or clear larger diameter tubing. My friend encountered this problem when he brewed a smaller test batch where the fermentation vessel was too...

Yes, my first beer I am drinking right now.

Looks great! Nothing tastes as good as when you've made it yourself. You better start brewing again lest you run out!

My kit says 7 days, I need 12?

I just use a crawfish tray (doubt y'all have those in Cali) I put a tshirt over it and fill the tray with water and I make sure to get the shirt wet in the process. Also it's directly under a ceiling fan on full speed. That's just as important. That way you don't have to keep switching out...

    Big Boil over!!!

Even simpler and cheaper is a tip I learned from edwort. A spray bottle of water. Just spritz the foam when a boil over threatens

    next beer suggestion

As most people know, after you've brewed 2 beers and there are about 1000 that you still want to brew. I say write down a list and throw a dart

    has anyone noticed?

I also don't get the dreaded rhino farts that everyone talks about. Could be because I'm cajun and my stomach and intestinal track is so ****ed up.

    total newbie. 2 q's

that looks like a good kit. I would also buy 5 gallon better bottle to use as a secondary. It's about the same price as a glass carboy but a lot safer. you'll regret it if you don't. If you're a diy, you can check out the diy section and do a wort chiller. But certainly get a very large pot.

    Oops... forgot to filter

Well after fermentation is done, you want to be as gentle with it as possible, trying not to oxygenate the beer. You should rack it rather than pouring through a filter. One thing to do on your next batch is to filter when you're pouring from your brew kettle, after chilling, into your primary...
