    Cooling the Wort

    Ok to the more experienced brewers, let me know if this is ok to do. I do not have a immersion chiller yet, so I divide the wort into two kettles and chill each kettle in the sink. I usually get it down to 80 degrees in 15-20 minutes. Is this an ok practice?

    Strike and Sparge water?

    Thanks all, I downloaded a trial version of beersmith and it is great, it is giving me pretty much the same volumes as you guys are. Again thanks for your imput. Now I have to decide what my first batch will be.

    Strike and Sparge water?

    Are you going to use the same amount of water, 1.25qt/lb, for both the strike water and sparge water? I am going to begin AG and that is the only thing that is really confusing me.
