    Finished up another Kolsch

I noticed tonight that despite only having around 4.8 gallons of beer in the bucket, the foaming was higher than normal to the point it was coming up into the air lock. Never had that happen before....

    Finished up another Kolsch

Mash temp was higher than I wanted, so in essence I'll have a lower alcohol content and from what I've gathered a little more body....oh well, it happens. Air lock is bubbling up like mad....the last couple of batches took several days before the fermentation kicked in....down 1 day - 29 to...

    Finished up another Kolsch

and put it in the fermentation bucket. Mash temp was running a little higher than normal (154) and my boil off was a tad more than I was shooting for.... but I ended up with around 4.8 gal in the bucket. OG came out at 1.056 recipe was calling for 1.050 so that ran a little higher than...

Have a question on this Kolsch Recipe

All my mashes have been 60-90 minutes, including one that I ended up mashing at a lower than called for temp but yielded a pretty good light bodied beer.

Could use some help reading this recipe

My question is does it matter how much water I use during mashing since my final boil volume is going to be 7.57 with an approx 1 gallon boil off. Just curious, since I never see water volumes for mashing only the boil size. ****5 Gallon Batch**** Batch Size: 5.50 gal Boil Size: 6.57...

Kegged the Klosch after 6 weeks

It doesn't taste sweet, but I'm just not sure the alcohol content is as high as predicted or desired. I can't find my sheet with the OG, but it was off, ended up with more water than desired in the mashtun, probably a good gallon more than I should have had.

Kegged the Klosch after 6 weeks

Poured a glass tonight of the Kolsch, very light beer, as I suspected little to no alcohol content since I didn't get the mash temp up high enough... then again I'm only on the first glass, so maybe I haven't had enough yet :) Very little head retention, carbonation is close, put it on 30lbs...

Kegged the Klosch after 6 weeks

Got so busy with work and what not that I didn't make time to keg the Klosch until tonight. Popped the top off the bucket and that flat beer aroma filled the room, no fungus, no mold, just a very clear kolsch.... Not sure the alcohol content is going to be very high since I did not get the...

I had the grain in the kitchen same place the mash tun has been for the last three weeks.....so they were at about 70 degrees.
