    Force Carbing Stout

Method 2 is immediate. When you shake the keg you are constantly mixing the CO2 into beer. So chill the beer for 24 hours and then shake/roll for as long as you can. Once no more gas will enter the keg, you are good to go. The beer flavor may need time to condition, but it will be carbed...

    Force Carbing Stout

There are a few ways to force carb beer. The easiest way is to hook up your keg and set the pressure to the match the desired carb volume. Refer to the below link. Carb Chart For a Stout or Porter at 44F you will need to set your pressure between 5 and 10. This is personal preference. If...

    Questions about Nitro

OK, well if that's the case, I may still have over-carbed beer. However, I originally carbed the beer by following the steps from LLBeanJ (from a thread a little while back). I get a good cascade at first but it slows down as the pour continues. It takes about 5 minutes for it to fully turn...

    Questions about Nitro

I thought I overcarbed it, but I actually took off the regulator and left the ball lock connected for a couple of days. So that was a couple of days for the CO2 to escape the beer and it didn't change anything. I am also going to increase the line length of the liquid line. So hopefully...

    Questions about Nitro

You got it. I'm not going to lie, I'm still having foaming issues with mine. I bought a nitro gauge off of amazon which was a mistake. The delivery pressure has too large of a scale (0-400). I bought a new gauge (0-60) but I couldn't get the old gauge off the regulator. Right now, I have no...

    Questions about Nitro

This was the best I found during my research. http://www.brewboard.com/index.php?showtopic=48144

    Show us your Kegerator

Here's my side by side conversion. I recently upgraded from 3 to 5 faucets with the middle being on Nitro. And to complete the ultimate fridge conversion, I filled the freezer with 136 lbs of black angus beef (1/4 beef).

interested in getting into kegging but have a few questions

They cost more to buy, if thats what you mean. A 1/6 barrel is about the same size as a corny. Only go 1/6 barrel if you buy commercial beer.

interested in getting into kegging but have a few questions

Also, if you only want to run a 1/6 barrel on one of your taps, just buy the sanke and save the money on the corny keg and fittings. To help with the budget you could run 1 1/6 barrel and 1 corny. Honestly the options are limitless. Just decide what you want and start creating a list of...

interested in getting into kegging but have a few questions

You would need a couple of things. The first is you need to purchase a Sanke Coupler. This is the standard American coupler for 1/6, 1/4 and 1/2 barrels. The sanke runs anywhere from 25 to 50 dollars depending on brand. The second is where you have options. You can either make up new gas...

My Stout Pour Isn't Quite "There" Yet

I've been doing a lot of research lately. My wife bartends once a week and she didn't know that either. To her defense, it's a dive bar and bottles of bud and shots of jag are the norm... Any who, last week I went into the bar and poured myself the perfect Guinness. When you push on the...

My Stout Pour Isn't Quite "There" Yet

Your handle should push the other way. It only moves a few degrees but it's enough to crack the valve open. Give it a try and let me know.

    Bubbles in beer line?

I shake carb at 12 psi. I shake, roll, the keg for 10 or15 minutes. I then leave it for a week or 2 at 12 psi. But I have a nice backlog of beer now so im not in a hurry

interested in getting into kegging but have a few questions

Starting out I would suggest no stout faucet. That requires a different gas tank, regulator, etc. With your 2 tap setup, I would do a 2 gauge "single output" regulator with a "Y" splitter. I have all refurbished coke kegs (fittings replaced with ball locks). Pin locks are cheaper, but ball...

    Bubbles in beer line?

yes. Since the keg and the lines are pressurized air can not enter the system. If you had a leak, then beer would be dripping out. I've had this issue occur because my lines were warm. I had cold, carbed beer with new warm lines. I think this would also occur from overcarbing, but if this is...

interested in getting into kegging but have a few questions

Here is a good read on line balancing. You would need to run a large diameter line, but I think the 10-14ft height change should work. http://beersmith.com/blog/2011/07/14/keg-line-length-balancing-the-science-of-draft-beer/

interested in getting into kegging but have a few questions

I keg and I love it. Besides what Remmy stated, the obvious reason is that it is f*ing awesome to have your own beer on draft!!! It is a sweet feeling to grab a pint glass and to pour yourself a pint of homebrew. For your set-up, you will need to do some research on pressure drops. You will...

My Stout Pour Isn't Quite "There" Yet

Do you mind sharing your process? I would consider my understanding of kegging to be fairly high, but I am always trying to learn more.

My Stout Pour Isn't Quite "There" Yet

I agree with Jcruse on carbing with beer gas. The CO2 will dissolve in the beer, but the Nitro will not. You will definitely see a diminishing return, but if you are patient and maybe purge the keg a couple of times it will correctly carb. For stouts, since the carb level is low, the beer will...
