The Philco Keezer Project: Antique Radio

If you can get new wood that matches, you can put it out in the sun for a few weeks and it will fade out. Easier to match to the old wood. B

The Philco Keezer Project: Antique Radio

A sander is about the only way to strip stain. You essentially have to take off all the stained wood to get to bare wood. If it's a solid piece, you can go slow and it works. If it's veneer, you're pretty much SOL. Either find a stain that's close enough, or just go darker. HTH, B

The Philco Keezer Project: Antique Radio

How about getting on one of those radio forums and selling the guts? Make a few bucks and offset some of the build costs. Or you could do what I did, and trade an old amp (Macintosh 50) for a 12 pack. Beer to drink while you build! Looks awesome, could be one of the best kegerators ever. B

    Carb keg warm, then chill?

The beer has been in a keg for 8 months, sitting in my climate-controlled storage locker. I can hook up the keg and let it sit for a while. Problem is my gauge only goes up to 30 psi, and to get 3.45 vol's I'd need 47.8 (tastybrew.com) I'll just wing it. And yeah, I know it's a 3.2% beer...

    Carb keg warm, then chill?

I have a keg of Berlinner in (room temp) storage, and want to keg it for a party later this month. Option 1: throw it on gas here in storage, and let it sit for a few weeks. Then chill it for the party. Option 2: Wait a few weeks, chill the keg on some ice, and force carb. Most likely I'd...

What do you keep in your beer lines when not in use?

I left starsan in there a while and the lines turned milky white. Now I sanitize, rinse with regular tap water and leave it. I purge the lines with sanitizer and use the dregs of the chilled keg to clean the lines. It also purges the settled out yeast in the keg. B

    Corny disconnect question

Pretty much all Ball Lock disconnects are grey (light grey, could be called white) and black. Pin Locks are the same color, but have different pin setups. B

    Gas Line, Home Depot Style

as long as it's post regulator, pretty much any hose will work. It's all low pressure after the reg. You could use air compressor line. I think it was $.13 a foot last time I looked. B

    Damn German Engineering. . . Coupler Q's.

A friend is having an O-fest party and I offered the use of my kegerator. She's getting a keg of Spaten, so I need a Type A coupler. I've been looking and I can't seem to find one under $50, but there's a BUNCH of type D (American) couplers for $30. What gives? Are type A's used that much...

    2.5g co2 tank question

I have one of those little chargers, and it takes about 3 cartridges to push all 5 gallons out of a keg. I switched to a paintball setup. If you're going for small setup, get a 20oz paintball tank. Used paintball stuff is really cheap nowadays. Just check the hydro on the tank. Then...

Really weird keg posts, anyone see these before??

Liquid out, put them together in the order you have them in the pic. The legs of the poppet go over the small part of the white thing. Gas in bottom pic. Flip the thing in the middle and put it together. The black rubber on that piece seats against the flange of the keg and it creates the...

    Show me your co2 holster

mine actually sits on top of the fermenation fridge, which is right beside my kegerator. Once I get off my lazy ass and get the stout set up going the beergas tank will be right beside that. B

    Brooklyn Brewshop kits

Next time make sure there's a bigger height difference between the bucket of beer and the bottle you're filling. Also make sure the bucket end stays below the level of beer in the bucket. And FFS. get away from those small brooklyn brewshop kits. All that work and waiting for a 6pack? For...

Kegging Red Bull at $0.14 per 12 oz can

some of their sodas are okay. The Pete's choice (aka Dr Pepper) is actually quite good. Other stuff tastes REALLY grocery-store-cheap-soda flavored. B

    O-rings at Lowe's?

You could possibly find ones the right size. I know I've bought a bunch of different sizes there for things like paintball. Take the old one with you and see if they have the correct size. They'll be in the faucet repair section. B

    CO2 cartridge mishap

I had one pop at a party. I thought the disco was on the keg, but BOOM The top of the disconnect shot up and landed in the neighbor's yard. B
