    Newbie CO2 questions

I just got a new regulator and there was a leak in the body of the regulator. The big "nut" under the adjustment knob was not fully tightened. No more leaks. I'd spray the entire system with a bottle of star san to see where it is coming from.

    Force carb kegs

I did it last time and it worked great!

    Re-Use Keg

I’ve been kegging for nearly 20 years and have done this at least a dozen times with no issues, but never tried it with late hop ipas. Both times I’ve cleaned my taps and keg lines they were way grosser than once used kegs. 🤣

    Excessive Foaming from Keg Faucet

If you have another tap, switch over to it. I once had a bunch of crap built up in my tap that was causing a pressure drop, which was causing more foam.

    Clogged Keg Dip Tube

Even when I’m really clear in the secondary I get floaties in the first few pints. I’ve always assumed it’s because I don’t cold crash prior to kegging. I’ve never had a plugged dip tube though.

    Singing the praises of Oxy-Clean

Yep, this is what I do too. It also works wonders in your primary fermenter. After transfering to the secondary, rinse out the loose crud, fill with water and add a 1/2 scoop of Oxyclean. By the next morning you can empty it and it is clean as a whistle. I also just used it on 6 used Corny...

    Corn Sugar vs. DME

I like DME better. I have had more consistent results. Hopefully my bottling days are done, though.

    Kegging and Consumption.

I found that since I started brewing, I buy far less beer in the store. Therefore, my consumption has gone down, right? Don't know how the kegging will effect my consumption, as my Sanyo is sitting bare and my kegging equipment won't be here until next week. I definitely don't brew enough...

    Score!!!

Yep, pin lock. Beggers can't be choosers. I am ordering my setup for my new 4912 tomorrow, so I just gotta specify the pin lock fittings.

    Score!!!

So, I am on my way to pick up the kids tonight after work, and on a whim I decided to stop at my local Coke distributor. After very polite introduction, the conversation went like this: Me: Do you ever sell those 5 gallon kegs? Receptionist: I think so. I am not sure. Let me call the...

So I purchased my 4912...now what?

The $40 is actually an up-charge to upgrade from a 5# to 20# tank. You bring up a good point about running two lines in. The manifold on the set-up I am looking at attaches directly to the regulator. I am very excited to actually see this thing. I have never actually seen one, though it is...

So I purchased my 4912...now what?

I purchased my 4912 tonight, but I need some direction on the CO2. I am planning on a front-tap conversion for the fridge, as it is going to sit on a shelf about 2 feet off of the floor. The shelf is 2 feet deep, and I would have plenty of room next to it for a larger CO2 tank. I am looking...

    Sanyo 4912 @ Best Buy

Purchased one tonight!:ban: I didn't care so much about the price, but it was a good way to get the kegging discussion started, and I was able to catch a week moment. We haven't discussed the $300 yet for the rest of the set-up, but it will be ordered within the next couple of weeks one way or...

    Frustrated with bottle carbonation.

Bottles were moved to appease SWMBO. I am sure that "her" beer can dwell in the kitchen for longer. I have also read, but may be misinformed, that beer absorbs CO2 better at lower temperatures. I can't believe that 5 oz of sugar isn't consumed by 5 gallons of beer in 7 days. Maybe I need to...

    Frustrated with bottle carbonation.

I cracked the first bottle of my second batch of beer tonight. It was a Brewer's Best Oktober Fest kit. I did a full boil, 9 days in the primary, 2 weeks in the secondary, and bottled 8 days ago. I added all ingredients per recipe. The bottles were kept in my 70 degree kitchen for 7 1/2...

    cheapest returnable bottles

It also finds it's way out as quick as it finds its way in. About 8 years ago some friends and I were "bucking up" for a keg, but were far short. (Broke college kids on a Friday) One of the guys went to the store and came back with 3 cases of warm Rinelander. We poured 3 bottles...

    Front tap on Sanyo 4912?

OK, I understand the Sanky vs. Ball Lock answer. I was confused by all of the Sanky tap systems, and assumed that you could get Corny kegs with Sanky tops. I am going to have to look at the Kenmore model #95499 to see if 2 Kegs will fit. The nearest Sanyo dealer is 2 hours away, and I don't...

    cheapest returnable bottles

I had to pound down 4 cases of Blatz last month to get ready for Christmas. :drunk: Decent bottles and nice boxes. Not too bad if it is ice cold and consumed quickly after a few home brews. I drank a couple cases of Moosehead this fall. Nice green bottles for my Cider. Sam Adams are...

    Front tap on Sanyo 4912?

I am thinking about taking the plunge into kegging. I am sick of filling those little bottles! Anyway, I am thinking about buying a Sanyo 4912, but where I want to put it does not have the head room for a tower. Is there enough room for either 1 or 2 taps out the door on the Sanyo? BTW, I...
