    Two sizes of beer lines...

That's called an Oetiker clamps. Use a screwdriver or side cutter to pry up the tab on the side. It'll pop apart

    Two sizes of beer lines...

Um, pull the lever and let US know what your pour looks like :rockin: Seriously though, Corny or Sanke? If Sanke, is it a barbed QD or flare? I'd just make the drive up to Beer Crazy on 100th and Douglas and get the right size stuff. Shouldn't cost more than $10 for a new disconnect and...

How to properly use a 15 gallon keg for a 5 gal batch

Take the spear out and clean it by the processes you'll find if you search "Sanke fermenter" You'll find answers to your carbonating question in the same results. I use a Sanke Fermenter kit, myself. There are a number of other options out there.

    Tube Diameters

Save yourself the hassle and just use 3/16" beer line and 1/4" swivel nuts (Or their metric equivalent) for everything. There's no reason you need different lines for gas... One size hose, one size barb = Easy and cheaper :mug:

    Beer Line cutter

Hey Yoop! If you can lengthen lines with a cutter, you have a very LARGE fortune to make in the electrical industry :rockin:

    Hurricane Sandy casualties?

I had 3 kegs in a turned-off fridge for almost 2 years. The beer didn't age well (Blonde Ale) But was otherwise just fine.

Basic question from a new brewer

If you keg, you HAVE to have a Co2 bottle. You can carbonate your beer in the keg with sugar just like a bottle (With less sugar, though, as was pointed out) But, as you serve your now carbonated beer, it'll go flat because you're essentially using your carbonation to push the beer out of...

    Regulator question

There's nothing wrong with that regulator - Assuming it's in good working order. I agree replacing the low pressure gauge with something that you can more accurately set in the 10-20 PSI range is a good idea. I have a couple of those splitters on some regulators. They work great. The...

Pin lock vs ball lock size (ordering tomorrow)

That's a LOT of stuff for a chest freezer. You're not talking about a $160 7 cubic foot Lowes special ;) Ball lock kegs are 8.5" round and 25" tall Pin lock kegs are 9" round and 21" tall. I don't know the diameter of your gas tanks, so you'll have to figure that out. Cut out some...

    Transfer from a sanke question

If it's 15 gallons of beer, try the following: Get a beer nut and hose barb. Hook the beer nut up to their sanke coupler with an "Out" Corny QD. Hook that to your keg. Then make 1 or 2 (Depending on how much beer is there) out to in hoses. Hook it up: Sanke > 1st keg "Out. 1st keg...

Clear, then not clear in keg

It could be as simple as the keg got disturbed. The yeasties and whatnot settle to the bottom of the keg, but the bottom is a big bowl. If the keg is disturbed at all, you can cause the sediment to float again causing cloudy beer. Otherwise, chill haze?

    Inside or Outside the Keezer

It makes no difference - Do what works best with your design. Inside or out has absolutely no impact on the quantity of Co2 - Inside (Colder) will lower the pressure in your Co2 tank - To about 400 pounds, but has no impact on the volume of gas in the tank. I keep mine inside because I...

How do you move 10 gallons for packaging?

+1 for the Sanke Fermenter - I have one and I LOVE IT! Buy a few extra fittings from the hardware store and you're good to go. On mine I use the following: Flare cap to fit the racking port - I use a Corny post o-ring inside the cap to seal it up. (During fermentation I don't have the...

Anyone secondary or bulk age in an unpressurized corny?

I'm not sure priming 2 gallons of beer in a 5 gallon keg would create enough pressure. I would think that would take a LOT more Co2 to fill all that headspace to carbing pressure.

    Kraeusening in a Keg

If the carbonated one pours well, leave it. My guess would be that there was little headspace in the keg, and it was filled with krausen. You'll have to force carb the flat one, but that's no big deal. If you have a wedding this weekend you better get the flat one on gas in a hurry!

Anyone secondary or bulk age in an unpressurized corny?

Use them - You'll be fine. Fermenting beer will produce Co2, and Co2 is more dense than air. Therefore, as long as you have some fermentation going on it'll push the o2 out. Also, the fuller the keg, the less o2 will be in the headspace. You could hook up a simple blow-off to the gas-in...

Newbie Question - Is there an issue with using 5 gallon Keg for 2 gallon batch

While it is true you'll "waste" more Co2 in the headspace with only 2 gallons in the keg, it's a non-issue. It will likely carb faster, and you will have to purge more to get the o2 out. However, the "Wasted" gas in the headspace is no different than a full keg. When a full keg kicks, you...
