Thanks for the link to the hood. Our basement is finished and has hardwood floors and I always spill water or wort on the floor. That keeps me brewing in the garage and I've never needed a hood, but it sure does look nice in your setup.

bg9929, that is a very nice space you have there. I dig that hood above your kettles too. Are you going to hang your controller?

I like the simplicity of it and the fact that you accomplished it with 110v power!

I go spargeless or sparged depending on what I'm doing. I use the RIMS to maintain the mash. It is much easier to maintain mash temps using the RIMS and I can walk away from it to do other things. The same could be done using the burner, but I would need an electronic ignitor. It would be...

I just made an upgrade to my unit. First it can be a no-sparge or sparge system. My HLT is a 10gal beverage cooler on a rolling cart (not pictured). The sparge water can be gravity fed or I can use the wort pump. I simply raise the inner MT to control the draining of the wort and I can...

    NanoBrewery build

I was in No Cal a couple of months ago and looked him up. I found this on his facebook page: "Because of problems with my well, which may or may not be related to the drought we are in, Chappell Brewery is closed until further notice. I will keep you all updated."

    Going bigger!!!

This whole thread is just a comedy! Dude, you "agreed to a baby"? Now that is just a laugh riot. Your wife is going to carry a baby for 9mos, go through the sickness, the hormones, the weight gain, etc, etc and then give birth in February. You think you are going to be free to brew on a...

BIAB brew stand with hoist and pump

Those swiveling arms are cool, but I did not want to take up welding as a hobby. So, I cheated and bought an electric hoist at Harbor Freight and used a coupon (25% off if I remember correctly). I have a 10gal MT with part of the bottom cut out and then a perforated false bottom over the...

So you lift a kettle of boiling hot wort to the second tier? Your build is nice and clean and it is also nice to see a clean garage floor. I see a lot of pics on here of brew systems in garages with dirt and leaves all over the place. :mug:

I also like the tippy dumpers and that sign above the door. The burners look like mine. They like the propane and they like it a lot :smack:

yeah, I gave up on my IC a long time ago. In addition to a long chilling time, I noticed that the hose connections always leaked a little and I was afraid water may drip into my BK and contaminate my wort. I now use a 40-plate heat excchanger. I also use my old 10-gallon Coleman beverage...

You must know something that your buddy wants to keep from his wife. That is the only way one of my pals would make something that nice for me:mug:

Question about my new pilot light assembly

One more question about this setup: I screwed in the orifice into the connector that screws into the air intake at the burner (just like the photo from the website above). The pilot light works great, but the main burner just would not light. Now my regulator is frozen and won't turn. I was...

Question about my new pilot light assembly

Bingo, you guys are correct. BTW, I sent an email to tejassmokers.com yesterday with photos and the guy actually called me today to tell me what it was and where it went. Darn good service!

Question about my new pilot light assembly

Actually, I think mine would look more like this one, but I do plan to install an electric valve:

Question about my new pilot light assembly

Hello Lads, I have a question about my new pilot light. I was going to install this and test it today, but I found a small piece that was loose in the box. I'm sure it is important and is probably a small gas jet or whatever the proper name is. I have attached three photos and hopefully...

    Best Compact Brew Stand Designs

My setup is also compact. I did not want a large multi-tier or long single-tier system. This is what I came up with and it works quite well. I have an electric RIMS with a PID that I no longer use. The double stainless kettles and the thermal mass of the grain/hot liquor maintain my mash...

    Passivating stainless with citric acid

Hey guys, I have never passivated any of my stainless. I just got one of the stainless conical brewbuckets from ssbrewtech. I have not used it yet and think I'll try this. I don't have citric acid but I do have a new can of Barkeeper's Friend. I'm going to do some more reading and find a...

    NanoBrewery build

Hey HBH, I know it is tourist season out your way and you now have some nasty fires to deal with. When you have a moment, let us know how things are going. I'm in the bay area every month for a few days, but I just don't ever have the time to drive over your way. I keep trying to find the...
