    I have been using an low priced open ultrasonic sensor for a few years in my cold water supply tank plus flow meters . The sensor is used during automatic filling the mash tuns only, water removed on command from the PLC. Since mine is not enclosed it needs to be replaced between 18-24 months...

    I installed a trap door more than ten years ago to combat the steam from popping up the hops in the first tube.. A solenoid opens and closes the door as required.

    Steam will effect the hops and makes them expend inside the tube. I installed a solenoid with a trapdoor to prevent steam going up. A few old pics. My set up is running for years now.

    Let’s see you PLC Automation setup.

    I do like Automation Direct PLCs, easy to use. I started in 1995 with an IDEC but was too limited. I never liked Allen Bradley and local support in 1995 was very costly.
