    Kettle Rims

The problem of Kettle-RIMS is matching flow rate between the two kettles. It is difficult, if not impossible, because the flow rate from MLT changes as the status of grain bed changes. The solutions I can think of 1. overflow drain, like Grainfather. 2. Auto-Spage from Blickmann 3. wort/water...

Lots of electric lurking. Why so much BIAB?

It seems that Kaiser's experiment came out different conclusion. http://braukaiser.com/wiki/index.php?title=Effects_of_mash_parameters_on_fermentability_and_efficiency_in_single_infusion_mashing&redirect=no " The results for mash thickness were somewhat surprising. Contrary to common believe...

Kettle Sour - eBIAB Tips Wanted

Check this video for reference. I just soured a gose by Swanson L. plantarum. 1-1.5 pills per gallon, and 24hr from 4.6 to 3.6.

    Magnetic Pump From AliExpress...

I do. I used a 24v little brown pump but felt it was too loud. The MK II like pump is quiet and more powerful, although I don’t need that power.

    Two elements one PID?

I used Grainfather with the controller designed by my own. Grainfather is designed to go with Sparging, so I designed the Sparge heating function to solve use the same power socket for Sparge heating and primary heating. To maintain the temperature of mash, the main heating element is turned on...

    Two elements one PID?

BrewManiacEx has exact what you need. It can switch on the sparge heating when the main heating is off when PID algorithm decides that.

    Super cheap electronic boil control

I built my first controller for around 60. It has almost all fancy features as other controllers, or maybe more.

    Custom System vs PID

Let me list some functions that I think it might not be available on PID WiFi enabled view/edit settings on computers/phones monitor or control it over the air temperature logging, and charting Flexible Automation Even including Hop Stands Up to 5 temperature sensors support I can chose...

    K-RIMS build question

Condition grains before milling, and use rice husk. The flow rate of wort is a direct factor of the lag. FIY, Grainfather also suffers from the temperature difference issue. If the wort doesn't drain from the overflow pipe, Grainfather and k-rims are similar, except Grainfather has smaller "BK"...

    K-RIMS build question

I had concern about the temperature control when planning my K-RIMS setup. The solution is simple enough because The enzyme exists in the LIQUID part, not the solid part.

    Grainfather vs 3 kettle

I had a Grainfather for a year and half. IMP, it is great for people who want to pay and play. If you have the time and ability to DIY, you can certainly build a system that at least meets your needs. I build a controller and use it to control the Grainfather. It is even better than the new...

    Grainfather!!

I was happy with their customer service.( I no longer have it.) I believe they will figure out a way to solve it if that happens. There are reasons, some of which we might never know. However, I guess it has something to do with cost and reliability. While reliability would eventually affect...

2000w not enough for 4G, other ideas?

People in the forum seem to believe that vigor boiling is necessary. However, I found some interesting information from Picobrew. I am not sure if what they claim is true, but I didn't find review against it. Anybody find some? https://www.picobrew.com/About/FAQ_Zymatic.cshtml " The Zymatic®...

2000w not enough for 4G, other ideas?

Do you check the hood of braumeister? You can also check the lid of grainfather. There is no DMS issue in both systems. FYI, I am an ex-owner of Grainfather, and I know the difference of using lid.

2000w not enough for 4G, other ideas?

Evaporation will absorb heat, and it is easier in the wide and shallow geometry, which provides more surface for that to happen. A simple solution will be using cover and leave a gap. You can adjust the gap to get best result. Read the description of this item, you will know what I am talking...

    Coffee Urn Brew

You need a new controller for sure. Even if the fuse doesn't blow, it is not safe. Don't risk it.

    Coffee Urn Brew

The reason is that this thing is sold as a distilling boiler. (so you can use it as a distiller by getting some more accessories. )

I would go with this boiler https://www.morebeer.com/products/turbo-boiler-2000-watt.html It's less watt but 120v.

    PIDs Vs Raspberry PI build.

Yes. A typewriter is more reliable than a computer. Unfortunately, it is off-lined, and I have to use a computer to type this response. The concept of erase cycles is true, but there is something call "wear leveling" which helps to extend the life time of the flash. I would bet it won't run out...

    Grainfather controller

I don't see why it won't work, except one potential issue. The new controller uses PID algorithm, and I believe that the P.I.D. parameters are tuned to work with Grainfather's heating element and batch size. I don't know if they provide the opportunity to adjust these settings. If not, you will...
