You will absoutly love that set up... I know I do mine... the only thing that would make it better is a floor drain in the basement. Kal Rocks!

    Conical Fermenter

I really like the idea that Spotted Dog brewing came up with. I just took a look at lunch time at my fermenter and the distance between the cone and a cross brace in the stainless stand it sits on is not very far to allow for a quart sized yeast catcher, but I may be able to tilt it or use...

    Conical Fermenter

Great threads thank you... That yeast catcher on the bottom of the fermenter is the trick... leave the valve open and as long as the catcher is large enough to collect all the yeast and trub were good to go! My Conical has a Tri Clamp fitting so I am going to have to use some creativity to...

    Conical Fermenter

Yes, that helps but the yeast gets so think at the bottom it just does not flow... I guess I could open it several times during fermentation and drop it out as it settles instead of waiting till fermentation is complete...

    Conical Fermenter

Who on the forum is using a conical fermenter for primary? I picked up a temp controlled conical used, manufactured by MoreBeer. I love this thing but have a heck of a time trying to rack off the yeast using the 1 1/2 inch drain on the bottom. I was thinking of adding a port to the top to...

    Alternative heating element?

I am looking for a suitable alternative or a source for the heating elements Kal calls for in his "Electric Brewery" I have searched high and low and can't find the camco #02963 5500W 240VAC - 4500W seems to be available but would take more time to heat which I would like to avoid. Any...

    Brewmation Electric system?

Thanks again, I will reach out to Kevin and visit as I am only in PA... I would think you could put a Weldless Ball valve in the front of the sink (Under the false Bottom) to allow you to pump the wort to a chill plate... just a thought. I was also thinking that a lid of some sort that lifts...

Thanks, I have been reading through your origional post and wondering if you pulled the trigger and bought the system and which you decided to go with. I now see you stepped up and bought the full automation version. Cool! I am just starting my research, I am a bit concerned about the sparge...

    Brewmation Electric system?

Does anyone have any experience with a system Brewmation is offering? I found it by searching for electric brewing systems. Brewmation.com I am looking to go to an electric system, but a bit intimidated about trying to build one myself. This is a bit more than the wife has given me...

    120v Electric 5 gal Brewery

I am interested in learning more about moving to Electric as it certainly would be more user friendly in the winter for Brewing... What all will you use the electric Keggle for, Strike water for the Mash, that much I understand. Do you plan on Brewing in that also with a false bottom? I am...
