Price gouging ailse 5, Price gouging ailse 5

I'm sorry, I'm starting to lose just what this thread is about. I guess I still feel I can spend my dollar where I want. If that price is higher, for what ever reason, so be it. Price is not the only reason I shop where I do. Processioning time, shipping (cost and again timeliness) and customer...

^^^THIS ^^^ The term "loss leader" comes to mind. (or at less less mark-up leader) Cheers, :mug: Joel B.

Well it looks like you need to do all your shopping with outfits that don't bake-in shipping then. That's the only way you can "stick it to the big guys" as I see it. Cheers, :mug: Joel B.

@huckdavidson , I guess I don't see what is dishonest about it. Also, RB has a another shipping option with "Spee-dee", it's regional, that requires them to rely on you to make a shipping decision. I think that "Spee-dee" is cheaper that UPS if you can use it. I'm thinking the rate @Bobby_M pays...

My guess is you have never been involved in a business that had to deal with sales and marketing. They are not in it just for the fun of it, there is a profit motive at play also. Go ahead and send those companies an email complaining about their pricing structure. I can already guess what the...

Spit balling here,,, Just "maybe" Rite Brew has an agreement with Briess or something. Also RB is only 50 mi +/- form Briess warehouse so less shipping cost to them? Maybe they self ship from Briess? Whose to say, as long as we have options to shop where we want, we win in my mind. If a...

Is there an audience for a TV show about a microbrewery?

I voted "Maybe". For me it will have to have a heck of a hook to catch me. Just because it's centered around a microbrewery won't/might not be enough. I sat through a couple of episodes of "Beer Masters" and couldn't do any more. It sounds like your show is nothing like that but just because...

WHEAT! Second Beer on the Way

I hope the beer turns out great! As far as the Kreg Jig, it's a good investment. It revolutionized the cabinet building biz. Also it can be used in so many other ways, don't be afraid to think outside the box with it. Cheers, :mug: Joel B.

    Northern Brewer - Buyer Beware

I am going to have to disagree a little bud. If you read a lot of the posts asking questions you will see that the more info you give up front, the less questions need to be asked back to help you. If you jump in and plead for help with the question "I don't have bubbles!! Help! Is my beer...

    Morebeer

Yeah, Me=This.^^^ I'm about 50/50 on FedEx delivering stuff to me with out an "unexpected delay". When I do get packages they look like they fell off a cliff. Twice, because of shipping damage, they (MB) compensated for, with out question. So as far as service and product quality go, I have no...

    Campden tabs and Whirflock

I use the potassium type. Most will say one tab is over kill for 5 gal. for our use in beer. One tab per 20gal is often the recommendation for beer to fight chlorine / chloramine. It's use in wine making is different and so is the dosing. There is a sticky note here that will tell you more...

    Campden tabs and Whirflock

Well if I am planning to brew and I see that I do not have any campden tabs I won't brew. Some days my water smells like I'm at a swimming pool, I have to use campden. Lack of Whirflock on the other hand wouldn't stop me from brewing but it would be added to the top of my "shopping list". YMMV...

Looking for German beer style mentioned in BYO years ago

I did a little snooping because I hadn't heard of this before. Sounds interesting though, here is a AHA forum link with a recipe and a little chatter. Cheers, :mug: Joel B.

What Online Brew stores do you like?

In another post just today it sounds like NB is getting back on track with their thru-put. That poster said he got good service from them. Just 0.02 worth. Cheers, :mug: Joel B.

    1970s "Dark" Beer?

@leedspointbrew I don't want to step on @madscientist451 toes but I thought I'd drop this out there. It looks like the right one, it's a png from my PDF copy of the book. Cheers, :mug: Joel B.

Did Northern Brewer Purchase Austin Homebrew AND/OR Adventures in Brewing?

Hello @Kemo There are many outfits out there. It's sad NB is struggling to fill orders in a timely fashion right now. They have been my go to so I hope it's short term. I have used NB/MW and Morebeer as of late because I have been happy with both. That said I'll post a few others for you to...

    Northern Brewer - Buyer Beware

Per usual, when this topic is brought up, most people forget that Aih/AHS sold out to NB/MW. They are the ones that left in the dark of the night with a "bag 'O' cash" and abandoned the stores and the workers. They should have sold with the conditions that NB keep the store fronts open and the...

    Northern Brewer - Buyer Beware

^^^^(Me tapping my fingers patiently for that day again) ;) I would hate to guess the order volume the NB/MW/AiH company has per day. My guess a semi load of UPS packages daily, maybe more?. It has to be hard to judge how much staff to have to meet that volume. If you hire a bus load to CYA...

Priming in screw top vodka and wine bottles

I tried a 1.75 liter PET vodka bottle once. It had the indented areas where it's formed for a better grip. I filled it with primed beer, screwed the cap on and waited. I stopped the experiment when I noticed the grip area started to blow outward. The beer had started to carb but I didn't want to...
