    Best Beer Podcasts?

I spend 2+ hours in the car for my commute everyday and, as a result, listen to quite a few podcasts. I started listening to the brewing network back in 07 and still do. The Sunday session probably isn't for everyone, particularly if you are just interested in brewing info. That said, they do...

    NHC Solo?

Considering going to the NHC for the first time this year in Baltimore. Good news is the wife is ok with it. Bad news is that she would have to stay home with the kids and I'd most likely be going solo. Having never been, I'm wondering how that might work out. Any insight from someone who...

    Plastic Off Flavor Help

Thanks again. I'm not sure what else I can tackle other than the water. So... I'm going to do just that and see what happens. If I still get the off flavor I will be back in this thread bitching about it. If it solves it, I will report that as well.

    Beer People are Annoying

Definitely. And re-reading my first post... I don't think my point was clear at all. I was critical without stating what I think is great about this forum and the folks here. :mug:

    Decanting

I just pitch anything under 1.5l at full krausen into 5g without decanting at all. For a lager or something requiring a bigger pitch, I'll let it run its course, pour off the liquid, and pitch whatever is left. Probably not worth worrying about. If you are going through the process to make a...

    Plastic Off Flavor Help

This makes a lot of sense. I was considering keeping all else consistent, building up some RO water, and making the same beer to isolate the water as a potential problem. I will do exactly that and report back if the same issue surfaces. Appreciate the insight! :mug:

    Beer People are Annoying

No, no... I think my point was that this place is the opposite of that.

    Beer People are Annoying

Decided to check out some of my older posts and saw this one. Good read. Anyone feel differently a few years later? Things have evolved quite a bit since I posted this!

    Plastic Off Flavor Help

I realized I might have undersold the prominence of the off flavor. Although it doesn't stop me from drinking it, I wouldn't share these beers. It's bad enough that I wouldn't want anyone thinking they were representative of my homebrew.

    Plastic Off Flavor Help

I'm getting a fairly consistent plastic off flavor that I can't seem to nail down. It doesn't quite fit in the "medicinal" or "band-aid" descriptors you typically hear. You can smell and, I think, taste it. Although I'm not sure if the smell is just making me think I taste it too. Weird thing...

    Beer People are Annoying

You guys are the best. No need to get frustrated about it. I mean... It's beer. I will talk beer to people like you and leave the nonsense to the rest of the "craft beer" crowd.

    Such an easy/fun brew day!

Hope so! And hope the same for your cherry blonde. Cheers!

    Beer People are Annoying

I posted this in a different thread but thought I'd start a new one specific to this topic... Uninformed people talking about beer... Slightly informed guy at a brewfest talking about beer... Equally annoying. It's beer. I wish people could just enjoy it and drink what they like. Being a...

Funny things you've overheard about beer

Uninformed people talking about beer. Slightly informed people talking about beer... Equally annoying. It's beer. I wish people could just enjoy it and drink what they like. Being a homebrewer for 8 years, knowledgeable, interested, etc... I almost hate to talk beer with people lately...

    Such an easy/fun brew day!

Decided to brew the Blonde recipe from Brewing Classic Styles last minute today. Was watching a 2 year old so decided to just go as lazy as possible. All extract, no starter (2 smack packs of 1056). Steeped some crystal 10 in a 7 gallon boil, added the LME, etc... Called for about 1oz of...

    2008 Ten Fidy Keg

I also need to shorten my beer line. Had a highly carbed pils on before this with 13 ft of beer line. I'm guessing this is carbed at only 2.3 or so vols at the brewery and is almost trickling out at 10 psi.

    2008 Ten Fidy Keg

Well, I finally picked this thing up and am really happy I did. I'm not the best at describing beers but I'm getting tons of chocolate, molasses, licorice, and "nutty" flavors. Need to go pick up a 4 pack and compare. It's been a while since I've had one fresh. :mug:

    2008 Ten Fidy Keg

Assuming I'm buying this thing (of course, I am)... Any expectations? I live in CT and only had Ten Fidy for the first time within the past couple of years, all fresh cans. I love the beer. ButI I'd be hesitant about any beer aged that long. But this beer seems built for it... and its in a...

    2008 Ten Fidy Keg

$100 and a growler for the beer guy at the store? Sounds reasonable to me. Who am I fooling, I'm going to buy it anyway.
