Recipe to show contribution of home grown hops

Thanks all for weighing in. The 2.5 oz weight is after drying them. The hops were given to me fairly freshly harvested, and I weighed them in at 6.5 oz before drying them further. My first time working with fresh hops. Was a little shocked when they 'shrunk' by over 60%.

Recipe to show contribution of home grown hops

I was gifted 2.5 oz of cascade hops grown just for fun by a friend of a friend. They don't brew. I thought it'd be fun to brew something to show the contribution those hops make to beer. So, I was thinking that I'd brew 10 gallons of something, split it at the end. 5 gallons stays untouched. 5...

Chocolate Habanero Porter - Vanilla Chocolate Porter - Robust Porter

I can't say I recall exactly, I might have baked them to 'clean' them up. Although since I soaked them in bourbon, too, it doesn't seem like that should be necessary. As a side effect, I found it took away some of the heat. Maybe I knew that and that's why I baked them? Again, that wouldn't...

    Hoppy Wheat Pale Ale

Glad to hear. I'm hoping to start very soon today on a somewhat similar recipe, give or take 1# on the base malts and Vienna instead of crystal. Targeting 32 IBUs. Not normally a wheat fan but some recent mildly hoppy wheat pale ales inspired me.

    Creating My First Recipe

I use brewtoad. Pick your ingredients, setup your hop additions, it'll run calculations for you. And it's free, though you could buy a Pro subscription there's no need when you're getting started.

    Rye Pale Ale

Have you considered adding some rice hulls to help avoid a stuck sparge? I'm hoping to make a Rye Pale Ale myself this weekend. Haven't worked out the recipe yet but I'd been leaning towards (and I'm making these numbers up now, but these are the grains I've been considering): 7 lbs 2-Row...

Chocolate Habanero Porter - Vanilla Chocolate Porter - Robust Porter

I started a batch last November that I decided to split up into multiple experiments. They turned out so good I thought I'd share. I'm sure there's room for improvement here but I'd happily take each of these as a full batch. I started with a goal of getting about 5.5 gallons to the...

Help with AG Bock-like ale recipe to break 9 month beer-fast

My wife is approaching the end of a 9 month, medically induced beer-fast. Roughly two months to go, and she's requested we make a bock to celebrate. I don't want to lager. So I'm looking for some advice on a good Bock, or Bock-like ale recipe. All grain, 5 gallons give or take. Suggestions?

Porter recipe - 5.5 gal AG

I've been playing around with ideas for a Porter / Robust Porter. First time messing around with this style. I keep tweaking it but it's gotten to the point now there are certain parts & ratios for the life of me I can't remember why I picked. Anyway, I'd appreciate any input. Getting Warmer...

1st AG - American Pale Ale - grain mix-up, problem?

Thanks. The hops adjustment - is this something one of the software packages helps with (BeerSmith, etc.)? I've considered looking into that, but so far my attention, and my $, has been focused on building my AG equipment.

1st AG - American Pale Ale - grain mix-up, problem?

Doing my first AG tomorrow. I pulled out what I hoped would be a simple recipe, but I had a mix-up with the grain. Recipe is below. While at LHBS, I got distracted and ended up with the wrong bucket. Instead of Pale malt, I grabbed mild 2-row malt (munton british). The label says it produces...
