That's a hell of a temperature swing you should really invest in a temp control setup it's really nice to dial in and ferment at exactly the temp you want..

Yeah if you don't mind please post your finished recipes so we know which one turned out to be the "clone". I think WLP001 will get you what you need mychal...Just be sure to pitch the appropriate amount so it ferments clean

Now you're talking that sounds interesting! So perhaps I should mash lower to make this attenuate more to let the hop shine through more. I'm going to go for the old trusty 152 for 60 min and mash out at 168 10 min. I think the Widmer brothers even have the name that picked out for this beer...

Yep I always use mrmalty and do a big starter I have a 5000ml flask and I know how to use it! So you think 20% rye will be the kick I'm looking for? I'm thinking in my head a cross of lagunitas sump in extra and a terrapin rye squared.

Hey Craig the only thing I think you may want to do is bump down your efficiency a bit in beer tools to about 70% and use that until you get your #'s SG and IBU's again. Perhaps it might be better to bump up the grain to get the conversion we need since we have been a bit low. Just a thought...
