    Acetylaldehyde?

    Couldn't tell you unfortunately...long gone.

    Acetylaldehyde?

Upon reflection it was also the first time I tried using Nottingham yeast, and a temp-controlled water bath for fermentation (68 degrees -- 2 weeks primary). With the porter I messed up the rehydration, and after 2 days of no activity I sprinkled a dry packet on top. Fermentation picked up...

    Acetylaldehyde?

So I just filled my keggerator with two beers that have been aging in secondary for 6 months (cool, dark, brew room). I waited for them to carb and then eagerly pull a pint of rye cream ale and vanilla porter... ...and taste apples. In both. I've been over everything -- long primary and...

How many corny kegs do you have?

I have 16 -- they were free from a scrapper. I just had to clean the bejeezus out of them. Solved my pin vs ball lock dillema...they were pin lock, and the price was right. There were actually 19...but 3 had been used as target practice. I have my first-ever kegged beer right now. :rockin:

Algae, 10 years, and a dead mouse

I took a 5 year hiatus from brewing before starting up again this fall -- when I gathered my stuff from the dusty corner of the dirt cellar, I found a similar mummified mouse. I soaked the little bugger in bleach over night, then bottle-washed the residue out before soaking in oxyclean for a...

    "Piles of Crap" Brewstands

This is the "good" version of the setup. When set up in the garage, it is far more cluttered. Mash tun goes up on the board -- it was being cleaned while this pic was snapped.

    Propane Burner Question

Ah. Okay -- the orifice adapter on mine is more firmly attached to the hose of the regulator. so I have: REGULATOR -> HOSE -> ORIFICE -> SPRING -> O2 FLAP -> BURNER. I'll try giving that a clean. Does anyone with that style burner have any imput as to how fast your wort reaches boil...

    Propane Burner Question

Stupid question -- what is the orifice? Is that the pinhole opening in the regulator hose? The only reason I open the air valve is to get a nice blue flame. I can only get a small blue flame that is stable. Bis and blue = sputter out. -- T.

    Propane Burner Question

In a nutshell -- do these badboys need replacing after a while? I have a custom keggle burner stand that I got almost ten years ago when I first started brewing. it sat unused for several years and now I'm having some issues with it. 1st, I can't crank it to high. If I turn the regulator to...
