40qt kettle for $40, this good?

Just ported this pot with weldless from bargain fittings. Very easy to do with my cheapo drill and the step bit I gut with the fitting. Sturdy and leak-proof. Very nice.

40qt kettle for $40, this good?

I got my kettle from this site. Might be this one in fact. Works great and good price. edit: this is the one I have. Don't know the thickness... 6MM is "Heavy Duty" so I'm sure 4MM is still pretty good. Yep. Mine is 4MM and people are always telling me how thick and sturdy it is. <<Joke>>...

    Corona Question

I ended up relaxing my crush and throwing a couple extra pounds of 2 row in the mash. Still got 78% efficiency and very little of the husky off flavor.

    Corona Question

Thanks, I think I'll play with adjusting and doing micro mashes over the holiday to see if I can get rid of the off flavor. :mug:

    Corona Question

It has the taste before and after fermentation. The first runnings have less of the taste than the sparge(s). It probably will age out, so could be considered a "green" flavor. I'm doing an IPA this weekend. I'm thinking about relaxing my crush (worse efficiency) and just upping the grain...

    Corona Question

I've been using a corona-style mill for the last few batches. I've been getting great efficiency, so I pretty happy with my purchase. One thing has been bothering me though. I've been getting this grainy, husky flavor in my beers that I think might be what JP talks about in How-to-Brew. I've...

    Grizzly Mill

Back to report that this type of Corona Mill works great. For under $30 I'm getting high seventies, low eighties on my brews. Takes a bit of time to crush (3-5 min per pound) but it does a fine job. The only mod I've done is a piece of aluminum foil over the grinding plates to keep grain...

    Grizzly Mill

Yeah. So there's different makes/models of the "corona" I was wondering about this one in particular. I'll report back about the crush, then efficiency when I brew.

    Grizzly Mill

Looks great. Now all you need is the Grizzly grass skirt, Grizzly coconut bra, Grizzly hula girl, and Grizzly whole roasted pig and you're set!

    Grizzly Mill

Holy goodness! How long does it take you to crush a batch?!

    Grizzly Mill

Just ordered one of these Grizzly Mill I know, I know...Roller mill is totally worth it. Just don't have the $$ right now, but I do have a big bag of unmilled grain. Anyone have this model? Any opinions?
