    Pump impeller replacement

Played around with the impellers more today. Here's the issue. The old pump impeller deformed around the magnet, swelling to the point where it was rubbing. Chucked it in my lathe to just sand it down slightly. Plastic was so thin, a hole opened up with only slight pressure from 300 grit...

    Pump impeller replacement

Has anyone successfully replaced the impeller of a MP-15RM pump? Purchased a new impeller from AliExpress, but can't get it to spin when all the pump head screws are finger tight.

Best/cheapest place to get camlock fittings?

While waiting on my AliExpress cam locks, I ordered silicone gaskets through Amazon. The silicone gaskets are way too small for my male cam locks. It appears sizes are not "standard".

Best/cheapest place to get camlock fittings?

I purchased 10 camlock fittings of various configurations for $30 on AliExpress. Quality might not be as high as others but they were cheap. I plan on polishing the wings a little to make them easier to close, then brewing this weekend.

    AliExpress potential mash tun?

Came across this "thermos" on AliExpress. Looks like a potential mash tun. There are two other similar items for around the same price. Max size is 50L.

    RO systems cost effective?

Let me get this straight, you have a Picobrew Z? A system that retails, on their website, for $2,700 and you're on the fence about $150 for an RO system? Get the RO unit. Install it under the sink in the kitchen. Use it for drinking, cooking, and making coffee, as well as brewing. It's a...

Using a bag in your MT

RIMS system for me. No issues at all. I've tried both single and double crush with no real gains, so I've stayed with single crush. No rice hulls. Never had pump issues or stuck sparges. I almost always batch sparge, but have tried a fly sparge in the past without incident. I use a cheap...

    Blichmann kettle help

Threaded stainless parts can experience galling. I've read heat and penetrating oil may do the trick.

    Cheap compact wort pump

Just ordered the 24v 20L/min version of this pump through AliExpress. Looking at coverting to a RIMS system this winter.

    Cheap compact wort pump

Talk about cheap. The wife came home with a new coffee maker a few weeks ago. This retired our 1st generation Keurig. It was starting to act up. I decided to pull it apart to check what type of pump was in there. Works well to just circulate the hot water for my make shift HERMS coil during the...

    Refractometers

I recently purchased one on Amazon. Love it for brew days. But when I tried to use it on finished beer, the line was blurred. With wort, there is a hard, distinct line on the scale. Easy to read and very accurate. I just can't see the reading on the scale when alcohol is present.

    RO System and Permeate pump

Just a guess here, but aren't these tanks just pressure or expansion type tanks. Maybe the pressure in the air side of the tank is too high? This would restrict filling and lower pressure at the faucet.

    My new false bottom

10 gallon cooler. Current I have stainless braid, but I've noticed that it doesn't lay flat on the bottom of the cooler. Keeping the braid, but putting this just over it.

    My new false bottom

Several years ago, at a previous employer, we were cleaning out the maintenance shop of obsolete parts. I came across two, old, but never used, stainless strainers. I always looked out for scrap metal I could use for some project around the house. A few minutes with the tin snips, quick trip...

    Better Bottle Alternative?

The wife came home with a bottle identical to the Amazon link. She got it at a local department store, Fred Meyer . I immediately flipped it over to look at the recycling code. It was a 1 PETE. I picked up the 3gal version tonight for small batch brews.

    Cheap compact wort pump

Cheap Wort Pump Why 24v? Just thinking the slightly higher flow rating would circulate the wort better for a more efficient whirlpool, maybe? I could be overthinking this. Thanks for any insight provided.

    Cheap compact wort pump

I've skimmed through about 30 pages of this thread but haven't found an answer to my concern. If this has been asked I apologize. How do these pumps hold up to hop junk and hot break? Looking to whirlpool my 5 gal batches with the 24v model pump on eBay. Would a bazooka screen in the boil...

    Stainless Steel Carboy for Primary?

Amazon. I've been watching these for a couple of months. They go in and out of stock on a regular basis. I'm only watching the 25L version, so other sizes may be in stock all the time. I can't explain it, but the 25L with a valve ($147.00) is less expensive than the 25L without a valve...
