I just recently got an ITC-308 to use in my fermentation fridge. I am attempting to calibrate it and was wondering if I should calibrate it like I would my Thermapen (at freezing and boiling) or should I use my Thermapen to measure it at typical fermentation temperatures? Thanks.

Opps yeah I meant 210. Sorry about that. I did check the Thermapen site and they said to take off a degree with ever 500 feet in elevation. I looked up Columbus and its roughly 900 feet so 210. something or other would be about right. Thanks.

Was just checking my Thermapen as I was boiling water to make my starter and noticed it showed 110.4 or so when the water was boiling. Do you think that the Thermapen needs re-calibrated or do you think water just so happens to boil at 210.4 or so where I live. I live in Columbus Ohio. Thanks...

That is good to know. When I was using the steel wool I thought in the back of my head I probably shouldn't be doing this but that slag was still pissing me off. Going to try the BKF paste to get it off. I guess if worse come to worse I read a sander could work. I don't have access to an angle...

I am having this same problem. I used steel wool though before finding out that I shouldn't. Is there any way to make sure I get it cleaned up so I don't have rust problem? Still trying to find out a way to get the slag off as well.

Okay thanks. I was going to search but the search function on the app version is a little sketchy at best. I figured it would be a no no but was hoping to not have to buy a new pot. Maybe I'll get an aluminum one for the turkey.

Has anyone used their brew kettle to deep fry a turkey in before. My only concern with it is never being able to get either the smell or the slickness of the oil out and ruin future batches of beer. Any thoughts.

I use the tubing you can buy at Home Depot. I think as long as its not hot transfer you should be okay.

I had one exactly like that except the handle was vertical. Bought it for $65 but for some reason the compressor stopped working after I had it for a year. Ended up selling it for $50 to a couple of guys. Really wish it would have kept working. Love that thing.
