2 bad batches of fro co cider

Sounds good, I am currently making a batch from juice, maybe it is an issue with my equipment. One thing i did notice is that the juice is pastureized and the concentrate says nothing of pastuerization.

2 bad batches of fro co cider

The only additives to the juice are asorbic acid. I did take my SG reading but did not get a FG because I dumped it halfway through racking. It is like fermentation starts and finnishes ( airlock bubbles like crazy, yeast flocculates, cider clears off), and after that it gets cloudy. I wash...

2 bad batches of fro co cider

I have been making cider for about a year now and have made 5 batches using apple juice and dry yeast without any problems. It always turned out fantastic! The last batch that i made with juice I back sweetened with 1 gal of juice and kegged for newyears was the hit of the party! The last 2...

    Back Sweetening Splenda Vs. Lactose

I ended up back sweetening it with 1 gallon of apple juice. Turned out great! I kegged most of the cider and bottled the rest. When the bottles carbed up I threw them in the dishwasher to pasteurize. The kegged cider is better, pasteurizing made the alcohol flavor stand out more in the bottled...

    Force-carb cider - thoughts?

Here's an idea for bottling, I am going to keg some cider and bottle what I have left over. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f32/easy-stove-top-pasteurizing-pics-193295/

    Back Sweetening Splenda Vs. Lactose

Thanks ACbrewer! That would work great, I will probably just back sweeten with apple juice in my bottling bucket keg most of it and bottle the rest and pasteurize the bottles when they are ready.

    Back Sweetening Splenda Vs. Lactose

I am thinking about back sweetening a cider, but I am unsure if I should go with splenda or lactose. Anyone have a taste preference? I don't want it to taste like diet soda (I have had a few diet sodas and had a NutraSweet taste in my mouth the next day) , but I would like to bottle carbonate...

    carbonation/bottle conditioning eat sugars too?

The yeast will eat up the sugar to carb the beer. Keep an eye on it if it is really sweet so you don't have bottle bombs. Cheers!

    Noob meets yeast

I am fairly new to brewing also. (6 batches) I don't think you made any critical errors. I always top of my primary with water, that way you can get your full 5 gal out of a batch. Some liquid yeasts are designed to be be pitched without a starter, I generally just go by the manufacturers...
