Bourbon oak aged - will it mellow?

Thanks! It was five ounces of oak. Med. toast. I put it in a small glass container (Pyrex maybe) and just enough bourbon to cover the chips. Saran Wrap and in the fridge. Sounds like a bit of patience is all I need.

Bourbon oak aged - will it mellow?

Ok. So I may have over aged an ale on bourbon soaked oak chips. I recently racked to a corny on Saturday after aging in the secondary with oak chips that previously soaked in bourbon for a week or two. Started the secondary on September 6 and racked off on October 12. ( it was a busy month)...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I was supposed to do two batches yesterday, but with the wind I thought monitoring temp, etc will be hard enough with just one. The second batch is going to be similar to a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. My oak chips have been soaking in Markers Mark for a week so far, so I will need to brew this...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewed a Belgian Wit yesterday. Used a Brew in a Bag technique. I think this will come out real nice. O.G. 1.049.

    Winter Brewing Outdoors

Successful brew day. It wasn't too bad temp wise but the wind was tough. Used a burner with no legs and setup a wind break with some ply. No problem getting water temps up or maintaining temps. Had a fire pit for the guys helping out. Once the sun went down and we were cleaning up - now that...

    Winter Brewing Outdoors

Planning on brewing this Sunday. Expected temp is 30F with a northwest wind at 17mph. From all I read on this thread it looks like there is no reason to cancel! Of course I don't think I can smoke up ribs at the same time....

    Central Jersey Homebrewers Thread

Long Hill Township here. Not in a brew club yet. Since I grew up in Montvale (172 on the pkwy), I thought anything from the Driscoll Bridges South was "down the shore". Though after living in Colonia for several years I agree that central NJ includes Monmouth county, Middlesex county and...
