Cacao Nibs in Secondary, Your technique

Good job using search! :mug: As for using nibs, 7-10 days worked well for me in a 10 gallon batch of an Oatmeal Coffee/Chocolate stout. Both flavors were subdued with heavy amounts of roasted malts but the flavor was there. I personally would use them 2 week before bottling at longest...

WLP648 Brett Brux Trois Vrai - Single Strain Primary Fermentation

You have a lot going on for an IPA. Ferment down with a standard ale yeast, then finish for 3-4 months on brett brux. You will still get plenty of brett character without many issues.

    Cleaning HERMS coils (how to??)

Maybe just put a little more irish moss in, ya know, to drop the protein out.:D

    Bottling after extended aging

Oh I won't be using carb tabs. I have plenty of dextrose, just wanted to see if a small amount of yeast in the bottling bucket would be good. I will hit it with a little bit. Can't hurt.

    Bottling after extended aging

So I have Saison I brewed back in early December. I let is ferment down as far as it could with WLP644. This took it to about 1.016 by early January. I then hit it with some WLP650 Brett and let it sit till now. The grav is down to 1.000 and I think it tastes pretty good. I am worried that...

    PID controller build

PJ, thank you so much for clarifying this for me. My PIDS are on order as well as my RTD's from AUBER . I found an old post of yours discussing the merits of cheaper EBAY RTD's vs Auber's RTD's. Again, you are a valuable resource for those of us who are somewhat clueless when piecing together...

    PID controller build

Thanks PJ. So where the little dots in the lines are, you said previously that the line went back to the same spot in the terminal. Does that mean each terminal will have multiple wires contacting it, or splice the intersecting wires together?

    PID controller build

OK, I probably should have thrown in some more specifics when I ask you that question JP. Below is what I am looking to do. If anything seems off, someone please chime in. 2 gas valves- one for the HLT and one that is just on/off for the BK. 2 pumps- I want to use one of these to incorporate a...

    PID controller build

PJ, After reviewing your build with the 2 PID's, the whole Brutus system's wiring makes so much more sense to me now. I have been swimming in information for the last 2 weeks trying to figure everything out. Thank you so much. My only question, if I plan on using a second pump, would I just...

    Watertown/Fort Drum Area Brewers

I'm up for it. I didn't remember to follow this thread closely. Maybe we should get a Facebook group running. It seems that is a simply way to stay in touch rather than trying to check a thread.

    Brutus Love controller

So two of the SYL-2362 would be more than enough for the HLT and Mash tun, correct? This will allow me to use gas valves on my HLT and Mash tun burner as I understand. I just want to make sure my parts will work.

    Brutus Love controller

Does that SLY1512A have ability to take a thermal probe?

    Brutus Love controller

Yeah that's the same one as I listed. It looks damn near identical to the one in the Brutus build sheet but no one ever comments. I'm ordering it. Hopefully it works out I guess.

    Brutus Love controller

Like many, I have found that the exact model Love Temp controller listed on Lonnie's build sheet is no longer in production. I am looking at this one at Dwyer, https://www.dwyer-inst.com/Product/Temperature/TemperatureSwitches/DigitalPanelMount/SeriesTS Just curious if this will suffice...

"Newegg" Is selling PID temp controllers

Would I be able to use this TD4 model on a Brutus build? I am having trouble figuring out what controllers, gas valves and thermocouples to buy to finish this damn thing off.

    BIAB Thin mash?

What MB82 said. BIAB is geared towards full volume mashing. And here is a link to a calculator I use. Once you get your boil off down, it's pretty damn accurate. http://www.simplebiabcalculator.com/

    Smoked esb or pale ale

I brewed one about a 6 weeks ago and I have it bottled up. Its been in bottles for about 3 weeks now and I just threw one in the fridge today at lunchtime. I will let you know how it is. I can tell you this much, I used 3lbs in my grain bill and I think it might have been overkill. But I will...
