    Water Filter Question

That's what I figured. I think I'll get my water test 4 separate ways first. 1. straight from the well 2. softened from the house 3. run through a "cheap" carbon filter from the softener (as I already have the filter housing) 4. run through a "cheap" carbon filter straight from the well

    Water Filter Question

Wow sounds like you had a real disaster on your hands chucko! Let me ask you guys this. When I look at RO systems they say 50 gallons a day. With lets say a 4 gallon hold tank. For brewing when I need 10 gallons for mash water, 10 gallons for sparge water and maybe I want to do a double...

    Water Filter Question

thanks for the input guys. I've read mixed reviews about using softened water. All and all I'm not sure which way I'll go. RO doesn't seem like an option at this point because I don't want to have to transport the water from the house to the garage and the garage isn't insulated so in the...

    Water Filter Question

I'm looking to get a water filter and wondering what the best/cheapest option would. I understand that best and cheapest don't really go hand and hand but I digress. I have very rusty well water.... I've never taken it to get tested. I'd like something that was easy to build and easy to move...

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

A lot of people have said that it takes around 6 weeks for the beer to get really good. Anyone ever try to filter it? Did you still have to wait around 6 weeks? And without reading 241 pages..... is the consensus still US-05? What about 1056?

    Chamber A/C temp probe

I'm building a fermentation chamber with an a/c unit. The A/C unit that I have picked out is a standard analog dial with a high and low setting. My question is inside the unit is there still a temperature probe that I would want to route outside the chamber? I originally thought no since...

    Single tier mash efficiency problems

Ok here is my situation. I have a DIY single tier converted keg setup with a single pump. Boil kettle, direct fired mash tun, and HLT. My brew days go something like this.... Put water in Mash tun and heat to 165, add grains and temperature drops to 153, stir good and then stir a few more...

    8'x2'x3' fermentation chamber

Good to hear limulus! If you have any suggestions on getting a good seal on the door I'm all ears!! I like the two fridge option. However, I'll be building this with very little approval from my wife and the a/c unit I got for free so if went and bought two used fridges I'd be in big trouble...

    8'x2'x3' fermentation chamber

I'm looking to build a fermentation chamber and put it in my garage. For space reasons I'm needing to make it long and skinny. My thought was 8' long 2' wide and 3' tall. I plan to insulate it with 1" foam board and use an a/c unit for the cooling that will be located on one end. The door is...

    $3 Bar build

I think if i put 2 4x4 vertical posts that it would be firmer. But its not to bad as is. It can be leaned on but i wouldn't want a 300lber drunk leaning on the very end of it.

    $3 Bar build

The "L" is what's holding it up mostly. I also got some scrap 2x4's and screwed them into the long part of the "L" attaching the two pallets together. But yes they are just stood up on end.

    $3 Bar build

    $3 Bar build

I thought I would start a post on my bar for anyone look for a very easy very cheap bar build. It's build from 3 pallets and a scrap peice of what I believe is high density fiber board. I'm far from a carpenter and this took me about 1 hour to build and like the title says cost $3 which was...

ok so last night I put a mechanics light 60w inside the fridge. i had it hanging from the top over night and when i checked the temp inside this morning it was around 46 at the top of the fridge and 28 around the bottom of the fridge.
