from my understanding victory and special roast impart the same basic flavors to your brew, the biggest difference is the deg. love . I would stick to one or the other and play around with the amount you add to your batch.
I like the one in charlotte. The head brewer made an excellent porter a couple of months ago. Since I was running low on my own stock, he filled one of my cornies for $40. Not a bad price for 5 gallons of a beer I knew would not last long at home.
If you have the means you could split the batch and add one yeast pack to each half. Should make for an interesting experiment to see the difference in flavor profiles.
I cant wait, tommorow we have a company dinner with all four employees attending, then I am off until Jan. 2nd. Time to visit family and friends, eat, drink, and be merry.
check out this hitachi impact driver. Great drill for everything. It decides how much torque to deliver. If its just for a grain mill its probably overkill, but if you will use for other projects its worth the money.
I second the Stone Ruination, also Hercules Double IPA by great divide. Both are excellent for satisfying a big hop craving.
edit: brewt00l, you beat me to it
My swmbo and I can put down some wine. Espescially apfelwein.
Also Irish cream with coffee , some crovossier VSOP on a cold winter day
and if i'm lucky a sip of Gran Marnier 150 now and then
Has anyone tried this before? I got this for a gift and the first shipment is in Jan. Just wondering if it will be any good. Although it is free beer, so it cant be too bad.
It sounds like you took your FG reading after you mixed in your priming sugar? If so that could account for some of the high reading, but certainly not all. Unless the sample from the bottom of your bottling bucket had some extra sugar that did not mix into the rest of the beer.
