    Bob's Red Mill Spelt Flour

Anybody have any experience using any type of flour as an adjunct? I tried to find rolled spelt, but ended up only being able to find flour. Is this usable in a mash? I am familiar with cereal mash techniques, but I am not sure if this would apply for a powdered material. Cheers!

Yet Another "What Should I Brew" Thread

Hello all! I was just looking through my freezer to take stock of my hops and found I have quite a bit to be getting on with. Figured I would turn here to ask some advice on how to best use some of these up. IPAs are the obvious choice, but I would like to brew some other styles, too. All...

    Finding Cantillon

Does anyone know of a place in the Chicago area that stocks Cantillon lambics? I would like to pick up a couple bottles.

    Four year old Smack Packs

I was given these Wyeast smack packs by the owner of my LHBS today. One pack of Lambic Blend 3278, one pack of Schelde 3655 and two packs of Biere de Garde 3725. They are all right around four years old, but still swelled up proper when they were smacked to check for viability. Anybody out...

    Steam Starter Questions

So, I am brewing two beers this weekend: a schwarzbier and a Munich dunkel. Both will be split in half, each partition receiving either Wyeast Kolsch yeast or Wyeast Bohemian Lager yeast, which is shown to do well at ale temps, as well. Now, I only bought a pack of each in hopes of building...

    Ambient/Spontaneous Fermentation Revisited

So, I was rereading the old landhoney thread here: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f13/ambient-spontaneous-fermentation-43888/ and decided it was time somebody took up where he left off. I do not mean to say that I am the best fit brewer to do so, but I am willing to invest some time into this...

    Harvesting Dupont Saison Yeast

I started to harvest the yeast from a bottle of Dupont Saison, as I really enjoyed the style and wanted to brew on this summer when my garage is up in the 80s and 90s. I used mason jars and just rubberbanded a paper towel folded four times over as the cover. The yeast took off, fermenting...

    Five Gallon Igloo Mash Tun

I built a couple five gallon mash tuns out of five gallon Igloo coolers, then realized I only needed the one. I'm not looking to make any money here, only trying to break even. Just trying to pay it forward to a fellow brewer who is looking for a good mash tun. It has a brass ball valve and a...

    Cold, Cold Garage

I need some help, fellow brewers! I have a brewday planned next weekend with my brother. We are going to tackle a decoction mashed dunkle, using the first runnings for a 2.5 batch of doppelbock. Both of these brews are lagers. My plan is to ferment in my garage, which is a balmy 38F...

    History Channel Today

The History Channel WANTS me to brew today. The entire morning lineup is about moonshine, whiskey and brewing! Looks like I picked the right day to do my first full all grain batch :mug: And it is Revvy's Kentucky Common, no less. How appropriate.
