No the carboy wouldn't fit. Also with this setup you can bring down to the freezer temp.

Correct. The probes are taped to carboy with bubble rap.I took power from the light in the fridge. I ran lamp cord to the back and used that with the relay to engage the compressor.

Nope to temp controllers and a 3rd party defrost timer. I am replacing the main board and using the existing wire harness. I will have serving temp on the freezer side and be able to control the fridge side from above room temp down to the set temp of the frezzer.
