    Brewing and Football...

Since I brew extract, I am in the kitchen. I will have a game on in the other room. Just won't brew when the Eagles are on. Frustration makes me forget about hop additions and boil times.

How often do you buy beer as a homebrewer?

I generally brew beer I can't buy. For example, I love Nut Browns as well as Altbiers. I am an extract brewer and don't have lagering tools either. So, yes, I do buy beer. A pick-sixer about every month or two.

Travelling to the US, opinions on best beers to try!

Also, don't just limit yourself to local brews. Think about other breweries you have read about, such as Dogfish Head or Cigar City. Both located on the east coast but get distribution in Colorado and Illinois.

    Your yeast want tunes!

Dock Street Brewing in Philly did something similar. They brewed a saison, aged it in a barrel playing Wu-Tang Clan. They called it Dock Street Ain't Nothing To Funk With. They said it tasted funky...

Adding froot loops to the grain bill

I remember the guys at Basic Brewing Radio made a video about using Frankenberry. As I recall, it turned out OK without a real sense of strawberry and maybe the slightest of pink hue.

    Denver Breweries

Lost Highway on Colfax down by the capitol is great. Also, if you go west about fifty minutes west of Denver, go to Tommyknocker in Idaho Springs.

What I did for beer today

Walked into beer distributor in Pennsylvania and bought a six pack! PA recently lifted its tight laws on selling beer where you could only buy it by the case. Today is the first day you can buy six packs and fill growlers at distributors.

    What made you come back?

Brewed from 2010 till 2013. Then I moved three times in four years, living in apartments. New job kept me busy also. Now bought a house with lots of room. Looking to go all grain. Gotta fill up this space.

A Controversial Question: What is the best crappy beer?

I prefer Natty Boh. However, when outside the Baltimore area, I go for PBR.

    Your House Beer

I usually keep an ESB on tap as well. It's a style that is not as common as an IPA or Pale Ale and my craft beer friends find this a nice change of pace.

    Labels?

I taped off a front portion of a bottle. I then use a can of chalkboard spray paint in the taped off portion. I use chalkboard markers to label what beer is in them. Totally re-usable and everything wipes off when I clean the bottle.

    Late extract brewing

I made the same ESB twice: Once with early extract and once with late extract. It was based on 3lbs Amber DME and 3lbs Light LME. The DME was added at 60 while the LME was added at 15 mins. First, there was a noticeable color difference. The late addition was much lighter and was very...

Would anyone be willing to complete this beer preference survey for me?

Done. If you can post some results or analysis, the statistics geek in me would love it.

    District of Columbia Beer Festival

I agree. Your best shot of talking to brewers will most likely be the local breweries there. If you are expecting to talk with the guys from Bell's or Lagunitas, they won't be there. You will be served by volunteers. Some are knowledgeable, some are not.

    Super Bowl Homage

Hate to break it to you, but Natty is still brewed and sold. Pabst bought the rights and the name. They contract brew it to MillerCoors in Eden, NC and Athens, GA. You can only buy it in the Baltimore area. You can also buy Boh Ice and they also resurrected National Premium, which is brewed...

East Coast, Rodanthe NC Trip in March. What should I Try??

I haven't been to OBX in the longest time, so I really don't know what is available. For big beers, you might find choices limited. Duck-Rabbit makes a great milk stout and is an overall pretty good brewery. Mother Earth has also been around for awhile, although I am not the biggest fan of...

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

Gallo from Guatemala. tasted like corn and grass. I couldn't even finish it. But the 22oz bottle is really nice.

What's you're favorite beer with wings?

I prefer an IPA. The hoppiness kills off some the spice for me.
