    English IPA

Heh, My LHBS has never had any EKG, but when I was picking this order up he told me that he just got a bunch of it in. I thought about asking to swap it out, but I've been happy with the Yakima Goldings I've used in previous brews, although, I didn't use near as much in those. I will be grabbing...

    English IPA

Thanks for the input, guys. I thought about using Maris Otter, but I think I'm going to try it with the Pale Ale Malt this time. bierhaus, this is my first time using this strain. I picked it out based on Wyeast's description of having a wonderful malt and hop profile, along with finishing...

    English IPA

This will be my first non-SMaSH recipe of my own and I want to keep it fairly simple. Is there anything terribly wrong with this? Advice/thoughts? 12lbs Pale Ale Malt 2-Row 1 lbs Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L 3.00 oz U.S. Goldings [4.50 %] - Boil 60.0 min 45.9 IBUs 2.00 oz U.S. Goldings [4.50...

BBC- Oz and James Drink to Britain.

Nice. Do they talk about the results of the brewing challenge in the book?

Don't understand the OG from this microbrewery

Probably 20 Plato, which would be 1.083.

What's this in my beer i see?

If you leave them in the fridge for a few days, the trub will get fairly compact at the base of the bottle. Then poor nice and slowly, and use the part of the bottle at the base of the neck (shoulder?) to catch any loose trub.

    Just need to vent

I entered this competition also, for pretty much the same reasons you did. I started back in Oct of 2011, so this was my first competition and just wanted feedback on my beer. I entered a brown ale into 10c and 23a, which got a 34 and 28 respectively, and I entered a porter that got a 41. No...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewing my first Saison this weekend. Hopefully, with the fermwrap and temp controller I got in this week, I can heat it up enough during fermentation.

A half joking but half serious question

I would trust the community to speak up if someone was blowing smoke up your ass on here. Also, cross-check through other sources.

    Good Saison Recommendations?

Saison-Brett and Tank 7 are my favorites. Goose Island Sofie is also pretty good, but personally I try not to buy Goose Island since the buyout.

Unsubtle dig on craft beer from NPR

I'm curious what "expensive micro-brew" and "cheap beer" were used in the taste test.

    First Competition Coming Up...

My first competition is next weekend, so I have pretty much the same questions.

    Brew Day = Good Times

My friend and I have been brewing together at my house since his stove caught on fire during one of his brews. It's nice to have someone around to brew, chat, and drink with, but I honestly miss brewing alone. I feel like I can concentrate more on my brew and don't have to rush through the...
