    Curious about cO2

A few questions. Has anyone ever tried to collect and store the co2 from a brew? On average how much co2 is produced per 5 gallon batch? How many psi does it actually take to bust a filled 12oz bottle? How many psi would it take to bust an empty 12oz bottle?

    Doing other things.

I end up with a metric ****ton of wine or beer sitting around that doesn't get drank.

    Doing other things.

I have been absent on HBT for a little while. I have not done a whole lot of brewing. The hobby doesn't really pay off in the long run but I still love to do it. I have 3 gallons of wine ready to be racked tomorrow and peppers drying for hot sauce. I am not really sure what the point of this...

    Expertimental batch sucks. What do?

I recently made an experimental batch. Approximate Recipe: 1.75 gallons, 3lb mixed red and green grapes, 1.75oz Corn Sugar, 1lb sugar, 1tbs "maple syrup", 10 grams Redstar Curvee' yeast. Specific gravity of 1.032. Last night I racked to the secondary and made a few changes because it...

    N/A Beer list.

Thus far I have only drank St. Pauli N/A, Becks N/A, and Busch N/A and so far I'de have to say that St. Pauli's has definitely been the best... for skunky green bottle beer. The Busch is terrible. It tasted just as I expected it to taste... like Busch that got drunk and spent all of its Alcohol...

    Removing sedimate from wine.

I've already killed it with campden tablets. There is another thread about what I am doing exactly. Its an experimental batch basically to see how quickly I can produce a batch of wine with free/extremely cheap/supplies I had on hand. It appears as though the coffee filters are working because I...

Airlock bubbling after only 10 hours

My last batch I saw activity within two hours... no starter either, just a dry yeast pitch.

Priming with Alka Seltzer and/or Skittles

I would not do such a thing. Save yourself about a gallon of wort to do such things with.

    Saving yeast slurry.

So I plan to be making Skeeter Pee all summer long starting in spring. I never know when I am going to be finishing a batch of wine since i never really plan to make it.. just when I come across the fruit. How can I save the yeast slurry until I am ready to use it in Skeeter Pee

    Removing sedimate from wine.

The issue is that I was only able to rack by pouring since my tubing had a crack. This stirred the crap at the bottom back up. Also I only made 1 gallon so it will be drank quickly.

1st beer problem - insufficient water!

I wouldn't top it off. It may be fine, it may be an extra light version of what you were trying to brew. Always allow a little extra water for your boil and if you end up with a little less... no worries, you will have a higher ABV and a heavier beer... which is a good thing IMO.

    Removing sedimate from wine.

I'm bottling a batch of wine today and I am going through the process of getting out as much of the fruit particles and yeast. I tried to do a siphon and my tubing wasn't working out so well so I dumped it into a 1 gallon water jug and am working on getting it through some coffee filters which...

    Do your wives get mad?

I was going to place this order last pay period and I got a long spill about how we are still paying off the t.v. the car payment that was due, christmas, this, that, and the other. Yet every time I turned around it was the bank card getting swiped and not her pay card. I'm going to brew this...

    Do your wives get mad?

I ordered an extract kit and bottling bucket today. I then thought about how hard my wife is going to ***** when she gets home. I called and tried to cancel the order until I soften her up a little but the order was already being processed. Does anyone else have this problem?
