    Dry Hopping in Keg

Quick question for those that dry hop in the keg. Do you rack the beer over to a keg and dry hop at room temp for a few days before dropping the keg into the kegerator? Or do you add the dry hops and put the keg immediately into the kegerator?

Once you AG, do you extract?

Just a question for the masses for AG brewers. Do you guys strictly AG after moving to AG or do you ever throw in an extract batch when lazy or limited on time to get some brew in your pipeline? I have nothing fermenting and down to about 7 gallons of brew left in the keg and need something...

    Halloween Blood Red Ale

Anyone have a good recipe extract or AG that would be a quick turn around for a halloween party? I just found out about it and have a pumpkin ale in the fermenter now that I can bring, but I would like to bring another keg and was thinking to go with the halloween theme, something like a blood...

    Efficiency Frustration....

So, I've read and read on efficiency. I'm trying everything I've read except for water chemistry because for me, I like to master 1 thing at time before taking on more. So here is my current process for last night's brew along with the grain bill (I got the recipe from my LHBS and I've done it...

    Porter Recipe Check

Hey All, Just wanted to swing a recipe by you guys and get feedback/suggestions. 10lbs - 2 Row 1lb - Crystal 60 0.5lb - Chocolate Malt 2oz - Biscuit Malt Hops: (I'm not sure on this. I'm thinking 1oz in the 8% range) Yeast: Notty Mash at 154 for 60-90 minutes. What do you guys...

    Temperature Control

Is 24hrs after fermentation starting too late to throw the fermentor into a swamp cooler or something to that effect to bring down fermentation temps?

    SNPA clone woes

So, for my 3rd AG batch I decided to pursue my brother's and my favorite pale ale. I bought everything and decided to go for it last night. Man oh man, I've never had much trouble brewing until last night. For some reason, the mash water calculation seemed to be WAY off. I had an 11.5lb grain...

    Jumped to AG today!

Been brewing extract for a while now and decided I wanted to try AG. I like extract for the quickness and simplicity, but needed AG to have the full spectrum. Completed my mash tun this morning and got to it. My wife broke my hydrometer so I didn't get an initial gravity reading to see my...

    Coconut Porter......using rum?

So, I have a porter in the fermenter right now. It's going to be there for 5 weeks since I'm leaving on vacation in 2 and would rather it sit longer on the yeast than only 2 weeks. I'm turning this into a coconut porter and looking for ways to go about this. I read in another forum that someone...

Impatience got the better of me

Patience really hasn't been an issue for me. However, I went a few months without brewing and decided when I was down to about a half keg that I'd better get to brewing! So I brewed a Nut brown. 2 weeks in the primary and I thought I'd wait until the 3 week mark to keg. Gravity is stable at...

Wine Thief + Auto Siphon...star san fail :(

So, it's been a while since I brewed last. I knew it was going to be a while so I filled my empty fermenters and kegs with a star san solution to keep everything pretty well sanitized in my absence. I just picked up the stuff to start brewing again and noticed that my wine thief and auto siphon...

    Thoughts on next brew?

So, I'm losing ideas on what to brew next. I currently have an IPA and wheat on tap with a Nut Brown in the fermenter. I'm not sure what to brew next. I like everything from blondes to porters. I wanted to do a basic porter and then add coconut as more of a tropical spring/summer drink. However...

    Few months off....

So, I've had a decent pipeline going and due to my daughter being born, I've taken the last few months off of brewing and drinking what I have. Well, down to less than 2 kegs, I decided I better get something going. Decided on a previous brew I've done which is a Nut Brown. Anyways, after months...

    StarSan and Aluminum Pot

So, I was done brewing about 2.5 weeks ago and had a new batch of starsan mixed up in my primary sanitizing everything while the boil was going on. I put the starsan into another container while I did my transfer from pot to fermenter. Needed the new container that the starsan was in so...

    Earliest cold crash

So, I just got the capacity to cold crash so this will be my first time attempting it. What's the earliest people have cold crashed following fermentation is complete and fg hit? I usually wait to do anything with my beers until at least the 3 week mark. However, this latest brew, I changed up...

    Gelatin...in finished...carbed up kegs?

So, I'm having a clearing issue which doesn't seem to get resolved by time in either my primary or secondary. I'm working on my process for better hot/cold breaks. I use clarifiers of both Irish Moss and now for the first time Whirlfloc. I have read that gelatin is an amazing product. I read...

    Keezer cycle time

What are people's keezer cycle times seem to be averaging? I have a 7cf keezer I just finished and got my temp controller on last night. I have the probe submerged in a glass of water to help with the swings. Just wondering if my cycle times are average of if I need to make some tweaks to my...

    Never brewing sober again lol

So, I typically brew on a Friday or Saturday night and have a few brews along the way during the process and things seem to go without a hitch. However, I switched up my process as 1 of my 2 kegs was getting low and realizing I was down to 1 keg, I better get something going! I decided to go...

Taking extract to the next level?

So, I've done a number of batches now and believe I have my process down. However, I think it's time that my extract be taken to the next level. Every batch I've done, though tastes good, doesn't have that "finished" flavor that I'm looking for. My typical process includes an average 3-4 week...

Session light extract recipe, need help

So, I've seen a ton of recipes out there that could be great session beers for those BMC people or those like my SWMBO that barely drink anything heavier than a Bud Light that are All Grain. I haven't seen too many reviews on extract versions of those. So far, I have a BierMuncher Centennial...
