Copper Hop Sock (version of the Hop Spider)

hey, so i like this idea, but how safe are paint stainer bags? i checked some out at lowes, and i dont necessarily trust the ones that they had. what brand did you use, because yours looks like its nylon, and the ones that i checked out did not look like nylon. id post a link, but the ones...

Oak chips. To dump with or without bourbon?

Never had Founders, but it's on my list of things to try, although locally I only have the Dirty Bastard, rather than the Backwoods Bastard. And I do like the idea of a scotch ale, I'll have to get some to have my brother try out. The only one that I've had is the Old Chub from Oscar Blues...

Oak chips. To dump with or without bourbon?

I do like the sound of that. Gives a lot of control over the oak level as well as the bourbon level. Do you think that bourbon would even work well at all with the IPA flavors? Or should I just stick with the oak? Edit: Basically I'm brewing a batch of beer for my brother's birthday present...

Oak chips. To dump with or without bourbon?

So if anyone is still subscribed to this, I'm thinking about making an imperial IPA with bourbon and oak cubes. Judging from this, my first thoughts are of taking a jar and using 2 oz of oak cubes and maybe 2 oz of bourbon and letting them sit for a couple of weeks, shaking them every day or so...

How do you feel about Woodchuck as a whole?

802 (for the Vermont zip code). I find that this and the Crisp are probably two of their better ones. They're a little less syrupy, and a friend mentioned that he enjoys a Crisp with a shot of whiskey in it. Sounds like it could be interesting, but I haven't been able to try it. No whiskey...

How do you feel about Woodchuck as a whole?

Magner's is pretty good. I had that while in Ireland as well as Bulmer's, and I thought Magners was better. However I opened up a bottle at Thanksgiving to share with my family and they all hated it. Fair enough, I guess, since I just poured everyone's glass into mine and enjoyed it. Funny...

How do you feel about Woodchuck as a whole?

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like Woodchuck is a long way from what I think a cider should be. I've tried a few other ciders over the years, and so far Woodchuck is pretty much at the bottom of my list. The top, however, is Original Sin cider. It's been a while since I've had it, but I...

How do you feel about Woodchuck as a whole?

So I know that Woodchuck is a successful company and all, but I want to know how people that actually know what good beer and such think of it. The sales can't mean everything, I mean Bud Light is the number one selling beer in America, so sales can't mean quality... I find Woodchuck to be...

    Life span of bottles?

Having used both, I greatly prefer my bench capper. The one or two times that I've used a wing capper, I get all paranoid about pushing down and having the bottle shoot out across the floor. So far it hasn't happened yet, but I don't want to take my chances. Seems to me like bench cappers are...

    Homemade spray ball

I work at a cidery where I sometimes run the kegline, and I have a bit of insight into the cleaning process on them. The kegs are fed into the machine upside down, and I believe that the kegger empties any remaining liquids out with sterilized air, then pumps cleaning chemicals in, then fills...

7cu ft freezer sale starting tomorrow

as a general question to those who use chest freezers, how does storing bottles of homebrew work out in it? id like to invest in one of these, but i feel that i'd miss the convenience of being able to open the door from the front and have racks of bottles. how have you worked around this...

    Advice on keg insulators

In the meantime, I have it sitting in my basement at home, which will hopefully bring it down a bit, then I plan on buying some ice tomorrow to let it chill. Do you know what the ice pack is filled with? I think that there are certain things that can absorb more heat than just ice, which may...

    Advice on keg insulators

I have a 5 gallon Sanke keg that I'm looking to be able to insulate. Right now, I'm looking at these two. http://www.midwestsupplies.com/5-gallon-keg-sleeve-ice-blanket-bundle.html http://www.kegworks.com/kegworks-keg-beer-insulator-5-gallon-size-417-p172425 I like the fact that they...
