    Homemade Bread Thread

I'm trying to perfect a loaf of Pain Paysan. Here is attempt #2. Already better than the first. Goes pretty good with raspberry jam. Also trying a toasted pecan bread. It's bulk fermenting now and will go in the fridge for an overnight proofing.

3 years of patience lost in 5 minutes

We move in a few weeks. Haven't decided if I'll dig it up yet or leave it behind.

    2015 Hop Harvest Totals

    I forgot to total before. + 0.7 = 1,268.42 oz

    2015 Hop Harvest Totals

Well, after my new landlord came over and cut down the majority of my plant last weekend I was able to salvage 0.7oz of dried Cascades. Quite the disappointment but some is better than none.

3 years of patience lost in 5 minutes

Well, I harvested 3.5 ounces (wet) tonight. I should've had well over a pound. I guess a little is better than nothing at all.

3 years of patience lost in 5 minutes

I am calm about the situation now but still upset that it happened. I'm not going to say anything to him now because we're getting kicked out anyways. We have to be moved out by the end of October. My best guess is that he's trying to winterize the yard before he moves in on November 1st. It's...

    Homemade Bread Thread

Decided to take my bagel recipe and add 2 Tbsp of dried herbs (Italian Seasoning) and 1/2c. of grated Parmesan. Turned out quite tasty. I may up the herbs to 3 Tbsp next time.

3 years of patience lost in 5 minutes

Let me preface this post by informing you that we rent a single family home which was recently purchased. 3 years ago I decided to start growing hops. I knew year one would likely produce little or no cones; I had none. I knew year two would produce some but the plant would not be at its full...

This may be a 7 week fermentation

I brewed a Vienna lager three weeks ago and I'm barely over 50% attenuation (1.054 down to 1.024). It's still fermenting and I'm not in a hurry so I'll keep riding this lager train. I'm a person who saves yeast from a starter and revives it within three months. Sometimes less but never more. I...

Stop by and have a beer

If I'm doing something wrong, I'm sorry. All I did was invite everyone over for a free beer and told everyone about my wife's blog.

Stop by and have a beer

We've been looking into a lot of programs but we haven't qualified for much yet. Our biggest set back for us was using the savings we had for a down payment to pay the NICU. Two premature daughters spending 6 weeks in NICU is expensive even with insurance.

Stop by and have a beer

I'm a Packer fan but I don't talk about it unless you bring it up. I'm more of baseball guy. I wish PayPal would've been used too but my input was not asked for; this was all my wife's doing. Stop on by sometime. PM and I'll give you the address if you decide to.

Stop by and have a beer

We do have a union but our collective bargaining rights were attacked a few years ago. We had a vote for the 12-month pay two years ago but it was rejected. We're usually able to save enough to comfortably get through summer but this year we had some large, unexpected bills come our way.

Stop by and have a beer

Thanks everybody for checking out her blog. She's really excited about it. I'm a bit overwhelmed by the generosity of people but extremely grateful too. Every penny is going towards our down payment.

Stop by and have a beer

I was teaching summer school but was excessed for low attendance. My wife bartends whenever shifts are available and I bounce at a bar and drive Uber. It's just enough to barely keep us afloat. Summer is no vacation.

Stop by and have a beer

Seriously, stop on by if you're around Milwaukee for a beer. We can have whatever is on tap at that time or something store bought. What prompted this post was my wife and I went in for a mortgage pre-approval this morning and were denied. I wasn't overly shocked by this for a few reasons...
