    Watt Density

What does everone consider Ultra Low Watt Density? I see alot of hot water heaters are running about 50 Watts PSI or so. I want to do a recirculating mash through a rims tube. The heat stick i have is 500W with a wat density of 6.06 No scortching at all but can not keep my mash at temp if it is...

    Recirculating mash Heat tube

What is the watt density of your heater? Do you get and scortching? My guess is that at less then 25 watts per square inch and flowing wort from a march pump I should not have a wort scortching issue. This heater will be controlled by a PID and SSR so it will not be at full power very much...

    What a day!

Good to hear all may be well!! Do you not chill at all? I'am not to worried about chill haze in a porter but was worried about the DMS from such a slow cool down.

    Using Fresh Hops

I could be wrong but i thought that flavor hops needed to be in the boil for 10-20 min. and aroma 10 min or less. I want to make sure the flavor hops have enough time in the boil.

    Using Fresh Hops

I have been thinking of ways to keep the grassy notes to a minimun. Do you think by keeping the whole hops in contact with the hot wort for shorter periods of time would decrease the grassy notes. In particular I am looking at the 10 min addition. If i threw them in stirred them around a...
