District of Columbia Selling my Hops Stash - Over 16 lbs

I've got a stash of hops from the past 3 years that I need to unload (making room for the baby...not in the freezer, just room in general for baby stuff) It's about 16.5 pounds of good stuff, plus a pound of some homegrown and some fresh hops that I dried (so no solid AA measurements there)...

    300 cf gas tank

I have a 300 cf helium tank that is just too big for me to use. It's out of hydro, but I'm assuming that one can swap it out for CO2, nitrogen, beergas, possibly costing an extra $35 for a new hydro. Here's the CL post: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/tls/3435856906.html (135lbs...

    Refreezing yeast

I started a frozen yeast bank and the freezer door was left open for maybe a half day and the yeast vials are no longer frozen. The tubes are still sealed and I gave them a good shake to mix up the yeast again. Any chance these are still going to be viable if I refreeze them?

    Stepping up Supplication Dregs

I had one bottle of Supplication at a bar, got some tinfoil and covered the top of the bottle to try and grow the dregs. I made a 200mL starter, flamed the top of the bottle and poured the dregs in (btw, I found out that if you don't let the bottle cool, it cracks if it's touched by the flask)...

BYO BoGo List of 'wanters' 50/50 splits

I finally saw a new posting for the BOGO BYO and missed the first offer, but got a subsequent one. That thread quickly got quite messy, so why not keep an ongoing list so as people get offers, they can take someone from the top of the list and keep some order in this world of chaos...

Accuracy of Yeast Calc for Old Vials & Freezing Potential

I made a 1.5l starter for a vial of WLP002 (best by Sep/4/2012, so production would be 5/4/2012) and sent it spinning on the stir plate. It took a full day to see some activity, but things came alive and bubbled along. When it was still again I stuck it in the fridge so I can decant and add...

    How to read motor nameplate?

Can anyone help me understand this motor name plate? I can pick this up for pretty cheap and I wanted to use it as a milling motor at the 136 RPM listed, but I don't know what it means when there are 2 RPMs (136/3420)? I want to drive the mill directly without using pulleys. Can I do it...

    Hops Smell

My hops have a good deal of lupulin under the bracts, but they only smell if I crush them... should they smell like hops if I stick my nose up close while they are just hanging there?

    Only 2 days to ferment??

So, I brewed a 5G batch of ~1.061 on Sunday night, and pitched the yeast at about 10p. The wort was a bit warm when I pitched ~81, but I was impatient. I fermented in a 14.5 gal blichmann conical with a 4ft 1" blowoff in a jar of starsan. I used a 1L starter that I made from about 50ml of 2...
