    Bottling 500 bottles from kegs

We ended up just bottling with a 1/2" bottling wand from a keggle we used as a bottling bucket (mash tun w/ dip tube), and priming. They were all capped by hand, honestly the worst part by far was cleaning the bottles that had mold in them. We picked up a vinator from the brew shop, which...

    Bottling 500 bottles from kegs

About 510 bottles total, took the better part of a day, especially since most of the bottles needed mold cleaned out.

    Bottling 500 bottles from kegs

Hey Jonas, I hope that's where we go in the future at some point, but it looks like we're going to condition this batch to save some cash. What would you think about priming the keg, letting it condition for two weeks, then bottling from the keg? Most of the sediment would have settled out...

    Bottling 500 bottles from kegs

Hey Brew, Yeah I kind of changed the topic there without being very clear, with the kegging I would have a fridge, found a spot for it. Looks like we're just going to condition though, too much $$$. What would you guys think about priming in keg, then bottling after 2 weeks? It could be...

    Bottling 500 bottles from kegs

What kind of attachments would I need from a sanke keg for the blichmann? I'd do growlers but they are expensive, and I want to fill everything up at once. Can you crank up the pressure on the blichmann to fill faster or will that cause foaming? Thanks for the help guys. I'll try and...

    Bottling 500 bottles from kegs

My brewpartner and I are looking to bottle about 45 gallons which are currently sitting in carboys. It'd be great to get rid of sediment, so we have been looking into force carbing in a keg, then bottling from there. Given the quantity of bottles, what would be the fastest way? I've seen the...

Group grain buys in santa cruz?

chad, Seven bridges does sell full sacks of grain but their cheapest is $50 for 2 row, and they only do a discount of 15% for 4 or more bags...so it wouldn't matter whether you purchased 4 bags or 20 bags. That's .86 per pound with tax, I was hoping for .50 per pound. I'd rather not buy in bulk...

Group grain buys in santa cruz?

Hi all, I've been looking to become part of a group grain buy in santa cruz area to reduce costs. Anyone know of anything around this area? I'd probably be getting 2-3 sacks of 2 row and willing to split sacks of specialty grains. Thanks guys. Kevin

    converting kegs: questions

OK, so I've got a question regarding the holes I'm drilling for the valves and temp gauges/sight glasses. I ended up with 3 valves, 1 therm, and 2 sight/therms. I'm wondering the best height for the sight glasses/thermometers. I already driller one of the kegs, 3 and 3/4" from the bottom lip (as...

    converting kegs: questions

Did you use a compression fitting and 1/2" copper for that? That's a pretty good idea, but a ****ton of holes to drill! I think I'm going to go with a 12" false bottom since it's a lot cheaper than the 15", about $40 vs $90, then $25 for the drain tube. Anyone have any experience using the...

    converting kegs: questions

Good to know, I decided on two sightglasses and that's where I'm ordering them from. Have you had a lot of problems with the braid clogging? How well would batch sparging work with the false bottom do you think? That seems like a good setup, do you just vorlauf then drain?

    converting kegs: questions

OK, just about ready to order everything from brewhardware after bobby gets the valves and couplings back in stock sometime this week. I've been reading about using stainless braid hose instead of a false bottom, would this work alright for batch sparging in a keggle? It'd be about a hundred...

    converting kegs: questions

I posted a link on the last post to sabco's false bottom but I guess a mod has to approve the post, maybe because of the link, but is there anything that will work as well for less than 90? Thanks.

    converting kegs: questions

So I'd need a false bottom for the BK as well? I know some people use a hops bag for the hops, but trub can still be an issue as far as clogging/sediment? Could it be filtered in-line somehow? Thanks for the help guys.

    converting kegs: questions

How necessary are the sight glass and temp gauge? I guess it would be somewhat difficult to observe water level without it? And the temp gauge could be inserted through the top or something, right? Trying to set this up for as little cost as possible. The HLT is used just to heat the water for...

    converting kegs: questions

So I'm trying to start brewing 10 gallon all grain batches. I'm in the process of converting several kegs into brew pots. I have 3 kegs, and wanted to get your opinions on what to do with them. I'm guessing I'll probably end up using one of them as a mash tun, and one of the as a boiling pot...
