    1950's Westinghouse convert to kegerator?

Yes mine is the same. I have it a HAIR about "defrost" and mines its pretty at 36 degrees. If I budge it a hair more, it tracks at 33 degrees and if I put it at "1" out of 10 it freezes everything in the fridge. Mine runs about 2-5 mins per hour...less if I put a bunch of thermal mass in it...

    1950's Westinghouse convert to kegerator?

3 will be tight. I think i'd have to do a tiny bit of modification to my door to allow the third as it would hang a tiny bit over the lip. You'll probably have to test your particular fridge to see for sure. I went with two and the CO2 inside....I actually use a single tap and just slip the...

    1950's Westinghouse convert to kegerator?

I have a similar ages General Motors Fridgidaire and I can fit two kegs and the CO2 tank under the rack/icebox. Heres a sense of size/space. If i moved the CO2 out, i could probably fit 3.

External controller helping reduce compressor cycling?

Thanks everyone! The fridge seems to cycle a bit less now that it has about 15 gallons of beer inside :) I did purchase a controller but havent hooked it up just yet. Part of me has a "dont fix whats not broken" opinion on this...if its been running strong for 50 years who am I to say its...

    Brew Dog?

I have a 7 year old miniature australian shepherd (smaller than a fullsize, similar to the size of a border collie) and he is by leaps and bounds the most amazing dog I have ever owned. He is completely loyal to my wife and I, intelligent beyond belief and has a truly unique and quirky...

    New (old) fridge

Drill it. I just completed my kegerator out of a 1948 General Motors/Fridgidaire retro fridge that looks almost identical to yours except its handle is vertical. Once I took out the shelves, i can fit two kegs and the CO2 tank as well as two cases of beer on the top shelf above the kegs. I...

    Skeeter Pee

What is the overall process/feelings people have had with carbing this and serving via keg? Do I need to to add chemicals to stop fermentation if I am force carbing or can I just back-sweeten and then carb immediately in the keg? Do people find this tastier served flat over ice or sparkling...

    Am i out of line?

I have the polar opposite experience at my local liquor store. They have hundreds of craft beers and then a small, dingy spot in the back with a dirty fridge that has BMC beers in it and above it is a small sign that says "the fridge of shame." Makes me laugh every time i see someone taking BL...

Problem splitting a single CO2 tank into two different air line sizes?

Fantastic. My gut feeling was that it would not matter but I didnt want to make any assumptions and cause problems for myself.

Problem splitting a single CO2 tank into two different air line sizes?

Hello, I have a current single kegging setup with all 5/16" air hoses/clamps. I am adding a second keg, splitting the CO2 with a Y-connector. All my local shops seem to stock 1/4" ID air line fittings (Ball lock hookups with 1/4" ends, line barbs, connectors, etc.) Given that I will be...

Neighbors dog attacked me, then neighbor threatened to beat me

I'm from NH and if a dog comes onto my property and bites me he will leave my property with 245 grains of lead in his body or he won't leave at all. If i had kids who were at risk, my opinion would lean much more heavily towards "wont leave at all."

External controller helping reduce compressor cycling?

Hello, Would purchasing an external temp controller like a Johnson controls or STC100 reduce the cycling frequency of my kegerator? My fridge is a very old 1940s/1950s fridge so I'd like to be gentle on the compressor. Is there any advantage to using an external controller with the probe...

    Vintage 1940s Fridgidaire Kegerator Build

Thanks! Faucet and shank/fittings arrive today so I'll hoepfully have more pics soon. I'm a bit worried my shank will be too short but I also think I can get around it by using a spacer and anchoring the shank to the outer wall rather than to the full thickness of the door. We'll see. I'm a...

    Judgmental neighbors

Her kids will have childhood memories of an outdated-book-inspired guilt and fear. Yours will have memories doing something with their parents. If she wants to debate parenting, you should memorize this quote for her and ask her if thats the kind of role model she wants her children to have...

American IPA Dogfish Head 60 Minute Clone (AG) & Extract

My favorite recipe! I love this brew. This is the first brew that I've kegged and it continues to surpass my expectations. I've made this four times and it's great every time!

    Vintage 1940s Fridgidaire Kegerator Build

Hello! I've been brewing about a year and have been bottling all along with dreams of kegging. I am getting fairly sick of sanitizing and cleaning bottles at this point! I knew right away that I wanted to do something retro. I have a 1944 Bridgeport milling machine down in my basement...
