To each his own! I think the Standing Order in Edinburgh is beautiful. It was formerly a bank I believe?

Weatherspoons is pretty good for a beer and meal if you are on a budget.

    backyard sauna build

I believe the sauna at my gym maxes out at 185F. I can usually stay in at that temp for 15 minutes, but sometimes not. I can’t imagine 212F! How do you keep from fainting?

    backyard sauna build

I love getting in the sauna at my gym after workout. It is just a basic electric element heater with the rocks on top. My question is what are your temperature preferences and time spent in the sauna? I think I’ll sneak a beer in sometime - great idea!

    My first infected batch

“Didn't notice at the time that the tap didn't quite close all of the way when I was done.” Just curious what brand/type of tap was it?

walk-in cooler with 8 taps thru wall. temp concerns with long shanks

Re: Perlicks, I understand that isn’t much of a price difference. I don’t know what series Perlicks I have, but I think they are an older model. I’ll tell you, the other day I broke them down and cleaned them and forgot how finicky they are. I had to fiddle around with with them to get them to...

walk-in cooler with 8 taps thru wall. temp concerns with long shanks

Many, many years ago I worked for an AB distributor and one of my responsibilities was draft accounts. I actually converted an old milk truck into a portable draft serving unit for festivals. It had 6 taps and we could run 6 kegs in series on each tap. I also had to rehab a smaller standalone...

7.5 or 8 stopper for plastic gallon jugs?

Yes, the type that store bought juice comes in. Don’t go to a lot of trouble, I can dig up my calipers and figure out the best size. From measuring with a tape it is kind of on the borderline between the 7.5 and 8 stopper.

7.5 or 8 stopper for plastic gallon jugs?

Thank you Maylar. I can confirm that neither a 6 or 6.5 is large enough as I have those sizes. Regards,

7.5 or 8 stopper for plastic gallon jugs?

Hello, I was thinking of using leftover gallon jugs for secondary fermentation - bad idea? I am just starting hard cider making and have some Musselman’s empty 1 gallon plastic jugs. It appears that a 7.5 or 8 stopper may fit, but was wondering if anyone has practical experience using these...

Headspace needed in 1 gallon glass jugs?

Interesting the differences in final gravity using SO4. Perhaps I should have started another thread. I will post my results when available. Thanks to all for contributing!

Headspace needed in 1 gallon glass jugs?

Thanks Blacksmith1 and CKuhns, I am planning on using yeast nutrient and can control fermentation temps. Have brewed lots of beer, but this I’ll be my first try at cider. The reason I chose SO4 was from reading it will not ferment completely dry.

Headspace needed in 1 gallon glass jugs?

Thanks all, as an aside, what is your preferred fermentation temperature schedule for SO4 and why?
