Beer tokens are available for pre-sale at the brewery. Buy early and save yourself waiting in one line.

    1/2 barrel keg as fermenter

If you have a propane burner you can put some water in it and boil away. That will sanitize it real nice. I'm an electric brewer so I put a gallon of star-san in it, cap it with a 2" tri clover cap, and shake the poop out of it. It works just fine if it is clean and does not have any beer stone...

Visiting VA Beach - Looking for breweries or bottle shops

I'm driving to VA Beach from FLA to visit family next month. I would like to Stock up on some brews that are not available to me at home. Where can I find a good bottle shop or local breweries?

    Who's injured themselves brewing

Whilst stirring the near boiling wort, with protective gloves on, somehow managed to get hot wort inside the glove! Still don't know how. It healed up nicely but left a scar about the size of an egg on my hand. :smack:

Cigar City - Hunahpu day 2013

Did a brewery tour at CCB today. We got to try this year's Hunahpu straight out of the zwickel valve. Quite yummy!

    The Best Florida Beer Championships

I've entered four. A dry stout, a blonde ale, an ESB, and an APA. This is my first competition so I am just hoping for some good feedback.

Total Wine near the Mall at Millenia has a huge selection of craft and import beer. Try anything by Cigar City Brewing, a very good local out of Tampa.

    Need help with stainless soldering

Is your flux the liquid or the paste? I had similar trouble using Stay clean paste flux. It looks like your getting the kettle too hot, and the flux burns. Once that happens you have to start over.

    Looking for some Keggle advise

If it were me, and a few months ago it was, I would build a 10gal cooler MT. Use the keggle as your HLT and BK for now, and when you get another keg you can have both an HLT and BK. If you want to go electric you won't be direct firing your MT, and in my opinion that is the only reason to use a...

So what's your coldest brew day?

I brewed a few weeks ago in a frigid 65 degrees. That's as cold as its been while I was brewing. Honestly I wish I had some cold weather like you guys. I am usually sweating my arse off while brewing.

Cigar City - Hunahpu day 2013

I thought this was one of the main reasons to come? This will be my first time, and from everything I have heard people bring lots of stuff to share while waiting, no? I was planning to bring a cooler full of goodies to enjoy. As a quick question related to this, what are the logistics of...

Is aged Centennial Blonde still good?

I still have a few bottles of this that I brewed at the end of last June. I had one a couple of days ago and it was still an enjoyable beer. It is not the same beer it was 4 months ago, but still quite good. Some of the hop aroma and flavor have gone. This is not something I would normally hold...

Adding hop flavor/aroma to brewed beer?

Have a French Press? Some brew pubs will put whole leaf hops in a French Press, fill with beer, then press and pour. It is supposed to increase hop flavor and aroma quite a bit. I have been wanting to try it, but have not as yet.

    Head

I carbonate in kegs at serving temp and pressure. It usually takes at least 2 weeks for complete carbonation, sometimes as much as three weeks. Give it more time.

What commercial beers are in your 'fridge?

As of this morning my fridge contains these!

    Hop shelf life.

It works great! Certainly saves money over purchasing FoodSaver bags or rolls. The vacuum is strong enough that I don't use the rings to hold the lids on. To open I have to pry pretty hard on the edge with something. The only down side is it takes up more room. The bags collapse under vacuum and...
