    Den: Beer Exchange

Sorry I can't be there everybody. Sounds like it will be a great day. A few instructions come with my brews, so I figured I would just post it here. My two brews are labeled with a 1 and A. One is brewed with White Labs Wit yeast and the other with the wild yeast I harvested from Palisade...

    Den: Beer Exchange

I am having no luck swapping hours and may not be available until after 10 now. Also, I'll have to give you my Wit experiment instead of the session IPA. I brewed two wits, one with commercial yeast, and another with a yeast I isolated off a Palisade peach last year. The wild yeast seems to...

    Den: Beer Exchange

I think I will give a shot at a session IPA or whatever you would like to call it. I have some Calypso hops I really want to try out. Downside is that I work at 1pm on the 27th. I will ask around and see if I can swap shifts. If so, I can be around from 4 on.

    Den: Beer Exchange

Sounds great! I have been slacking on my brewing duties of late. Too much yard work to ignore. If I can get it in early enough, I would love to make my kölsch. Otherwise, I may try my cream ale or my mango wheat. I'll decide soon. Probably.

    Local 12 beers of Christmas

Agreed. On the beer front, I have only been able to sample a few so far, but I have been really pleased thus far. I can't wait to keep working through the list.

    Local 12 beers of Christmas

I went all out and labeled just in case. That said, this is the first time I have ever done so. Just thought it would be fun and a bit more festive. I managed to eke 44 bottles out of the batch, minus a few "tastes" before.

    Local 12 beers of Christmas

I should be in for 1pm on the 8th. My wife has a work party, but I think that is later that evening. Sounds like this could work out well!

    Local 12 beers of Christmas

I am working on the 1st, but I can either ask my wife to drop bottles off or try to get a personal day. Strange sounds great. I have never actually been there. As for the beer, I added my spice tincture last week. Time to carb up and get it ready to bottle. Smells great right now!

    Local 12 beers of Christmas

Cool. That Northern Brown works well for spices or fruit. I have used it before. My new stout recipe is tasting good. I'll re-brew it soon and get to work on my own spice mix.

    Considering a homebrew club..

Thanks. Un-derailed. Still throwing that out there, though. I know Great Divide does a monthly meeting with a brewer where they bring out a few experiments and encourage discussion. Usually degrades into a bunch of people talking, but if you work at it, it can be a great experience. That...

    Denver County Fair

Heh, nice. Did you enter? I just dropped my cream ale and mango wheat off yesterday. I just started competing myself and have found that regardless of what I have sitting around the fridge, I enter it all. I don't care about the prize so much, but the feedback can be great. That said, it...

    Considering a homebrew club..

I am definitely down for a local 12 beers of Christmas. Does anyone have an idea about what they would like to brew? Some of them should be in a carboy soon. I live in Golden and have also had some trouble getting into a club. Most of the clubs that meet nearby or fit my schedule seem to have...

    Brewing with Brett? Saison?

The current issue of Zymurgy has a fantastic article about Brett. Chad Yakobson of Crookes Stave in Colorado actually wrote his thesis on Brett fermentation and has a lot of tips to give out, including recipes. One of the recipes he gave was a Saison with a similar grain bill to one I brew. I...

Searching for info on a beer

Hey, all, My sister has formally requested I brew her favorite beer for her birthday in July. Unfortunately, I've never had it and she doesn't remember its name. All she remembers is that it was something she tasted at a tour of the Sam Adams brewery. It was a banana and maple ale. I asked if...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

From what I've seen, all you need is 24 hours. Mind you, I'm no expert. In fact, I have used apple juice just once, to make this version of graff: 4lbs Colorado pale 2-row malt 0.5 lbs caramel malt 80L 1oz flakes wheat (LHBS was out of torrefied) 4 gal unpasteurized Safeway organic apple juice...

    American Saison idea

Heh. Totally off. I used 3724. In any case, I used a 1L starter. Starter was going pretty hot when I dumped it in. On testing today, I was greeted with 1.020. I gave the brew a little stir and figured it would continue its business. It was actually warmer in there today, up to 80 again. It...
