    Does anyone really like IPA's?

love em. however most commercial ones arent real IPA-tasting. My personal favourite is Alexander Keith's. I'd like to jump into a AG IPA, havent ventured that far yet.

    Still good?

Hey guys, I brewed a pilsner back in the fall. Its been in the secondary since October because I have had a lot of things going on since then (moved, had a baby, new job). Would it still be good to bottle or is it past its prime?

    Age your beer!

How long can you allow it to sit? I'm always worried about it going bad. I've still got some IPA from a few months back, and it keeps getting better and better. Think the old man's gonna clean me out of it pretty soon though.

    Just made my first batch

Well ur screwed now, u'll be brewing all the time! Nice choice on the first brew too, sounds pretty good, quite extravagant. I tend to stay away from any of the fruit beers... keep me posted on how it turns out though, I may change my mind and give it a go! Cass

    favorite extract

I'm using a canned Coopers right now, just got it in the primary not but 5 minutes ago, its a pilsner. First time I've used one of these canned contraptions, so here's to hoping its a good one. I must say, it did smell some good. Anyone else used Coopers? The only reason I used it was when I...

I know this is a bit short notice, but I'm going to the HB shop soon and am thinking about an amber extract this batch... Anyone got any good simple recipes? Cass

    Bubbling stopped after 2 days

I just brewed an IPA and it was done bubbling after 2 days as well. Bottled it a week ago, and it tasted great. I wouldn't worry about it too much, its probably fine. My OG was 1.050 and my FG was around 1.015. So it turned out just fine. When you transfer it to secondary, check the...

Significant raise in alcohol contact @ priming?

Ok, that's all i was wondering. 4% isn't too bad anyways, can't wait for it to carbonate!!!

    Holy cripes thats bitter/astringent...

Well you can't have a beer thats too bitter. Wish my IPA turned out a little more bitter. Just bottled her tonight, great tasting, for a flat young beer. Can hardly wait! Sounds like its more astringent...

Significant raise in alcohol contact @ priming?

Just wondering if the alcohol content goes up a significant amount after priming. My IPA was sitting at 4% when I bottled it tonight, was wondering if the priming sugar would affect that at all. Cass

    Light damage

Just wondering how much damage light does to beer in the secondary. Just noticed that mine was getting some sunlight in the very early morning for about half an hour a day. It has been there a week. I moved it today when I noticed. Will it really harm my beer a great deal?

    How long?

One last question... Will it continue to bitter up while in the carboy? When I tasted it, it wasn't bitter at all. I really hope so.

    How long?

When racking to the secondary it looked like a light golden colour (I sampled some and it was good, just not real bitter yet). But in the carboy its a dark brown. How come?

    How long?

Ok next question... since this is for clarifying, is it normal for my beer to be dark brown at first? I'm brewing an IPA which is supposed to be golden, but so far its just a dark brown. My wort was golden, but after the primary fermentation, my beer turned a dark brown. Is this normal?

How do I get a stronger alcohol content?

hahaha I agree. I am still in college (just finishing up) and I remember my first yr was just all getting smashed and beer-bonging. But you do grow out of it (i don't know if it has to do with maturity in most cases, i think the toll it takes on ur body is a big factor, LOL). And I mean...

    How long?

Ok good, because it still hasn't had any action. It was done fermenting in the primary like 4 days ago, but I waited the entire week before racking to the secondary.
