    Grainfather!!

I love my Grainfather and brew with it using the app. I am extremely happy with brewing on it as is and had no no desire to get the new controller.......until I saw delayed heating. That would be be awesome. Ready to mash right after work on on Friday....im in!!!

    Grainfather!!

I don't have a local homebrew shop and usually have my grains crushed from NB or More Beer. My efficiency is usually around 75%. I slow the flow so the wort doesn't go down the overflow pipe. My philosophy is that the hottest of the wort will go down the tube instead of through the grains...

    Sparging on the Grainfather

I use the Grainfather Sparge heater and pour a quart at a time.(the company with the bear logo had them in stock). Part of the reason I got the grainfather was because I was tired of lifting water up 5' high, running hose, playing with pumps, lighting burners etc. A Grainfather brew day is...

    Grainfather!!

Awhile back in this thread, someone posted a sink strainer over the overflow pipe. I bought one and it keeps the husks out of the boiler. $2 fix.

    Grainfather!!

Well, after nearly 25 years of home brewing, I took a leap of faith and bought The Grainfather, Graincoat and Sparge water heater. I've been following this post for quite some time and decided to pull the trigger (on the big auction site) last week. I have been brewing on a 10-15 gallon 3...

Would you buy "Box Subscription" for homebrewing?

I'm definitely in the minority here, I think it is a good idea. I wouldn't subscribe for a monthly, but would like an every other plan. Ive been brewing for 25+ years and like to make my standby beers over and over. It would be fun to get some encouragement to try different styles or do small...

    Losing Heat with Reflectix

There is much more thermal mass with the grain. You will lose significantly less with a full tun.

Question about PID and RIMS Tube.

I have virtually the same setup and sometimes I heat my mlt water up to strike temp while I setup other gear and crush grain etc. A much more efficient way is to put 1 gallon of strike water in the mlt to preaheat and heat the remainder on the burner and dump it in.

    13 gallon sanke?

I did the same thing many years ago. Can barely and I mean BARELY do a 10 gallon AG batch in it. I complained about it for many years and now it is my HLT and I bought a 20 gallon kettle this week.

    RIMS Toolbox

I made mine in a red metal roofing toolbox I got for Christmas when I was about 12. Never became a roofer, but it made a great RIMS box!

    Hard Water in SD

Just wanted to give a follow up and say thank you to AJdelange and Mabrungard. I just finished the water section of Gordon Strong's book and thought...hey, I know those guys! (well sorta). I decided to install a home RO system and have since brewed 4 batches with minute water adjustments...
