    I have a question about what exactly changes the OG of a beer. Is it the kind of malt? The amount? The volume of the water it is boiling in? I am a little confused about what controls the gravity of the beer. Someone please let me know - I need to learn!

    Primary Fermentation Q

    My First batch is in my primary for 5 days now- about 2 days ago it stopped bubbling up from the airlock. And the 1-2 inches of foam is gone- it never got to the top of my carboy at all-- is there a problem? I'm sure it'll make beer- I'm just interested in some clarification

    Noob Q

    I'm on my first batch ever and I was just wondering- how do I guys take samples out of your primary (in my case a 7.5G carboy w/ a stopper and airlock)? Do you take out the airlock and siphon? I'm a little confused on the procedure. Thanks
