Need help figuring out how grain is getting under my MLT false bottom

I thought so too until I did a few different sized grins ranging from 0.027” to 0.40”. Last weekend I grinded at 0.040 on a 3 roller mill and same thing. To be honest it seemed that less got through on the finer crushes.

Need help figuring out how grain is getting under my MLT false bottom

Hi there, I was wondering if you ever got that issue with grain getting through your false bottom figured out? I have the same issue. I have a jaybird false bottom with no hole drilled for the pickup tube because my keg drains from the bottom. I didn’t notice how much was getting through until...

    Totally Confused About Residual Alkalinity

Wow, I am facing the exact same problem you are. I sort of posted it right before you did; you just did a better job of explaining it. When I get my PH of 5.55 I get a -75 RA. I can’t find any info on low RA. I’m starting to think it’s not a problem as long as your PH is good...

    Residual Alkalinity

At what point is the residual alkalinity just too low and how does it affect the beer? The adjustments required in order to get my ions and PH right put my RA at -66. I can’t seem to find any info addressing this.

    Help freezer smells like paint

The guy painted it a while back so it should have cured by now but what about my other question? Does anyone think the smell could somehow affect the beer? Like through the hoses or the liquid posts before the beer line is connected. And what about the gas disconnects that are not in use? Or...

    Help freezer smells like paint

It’s been in my garage open for 2 days and it still isn’t curing. The person at lowes told me the paint will probably remain tacky because its latex and they should have used oil based. But I do have a small space heater I could put in it to try.

    Help freezer smells like paint

I got a chest freezer from Craig’s list for a good price and when I got it home I realized that the inside had been spray painted. The problem is that it is still tacky and smells like paint in there. I’m sure the smell won’t affect my beer in the kegs but its driving me nuts. So I guess my...

Witbier Austin Homebrew's Belgian White Beer

Ok, I brew this recipe every now and then because it’s an approachable easy drinking beer and some of family and friends can’t always handle the beers I normally brew. My problem is this. When I brew the extract version it’s great but the all grain version finishes full of DMS...
