    kegerator?

Planning a small remodel that will include a under the counter/built in kegerator. First question is when did these things get so expensive? I've heard the cheap ones don't have a compressor. I'd like to avoid that. What should I insist upon feature wise when buying one of this units? I'd...

    Older brewers techniques.

I just turned 60 and did a brew today. I must admit brew day is turning into quite the chore. Carrying around pots and corny kegs of 5 gallons worth of liquid down stairs is beginning to be to much for me to handle. How do you cope with these limitations of strength and endurance?

    Spike TC-100+

Just bought this unit. Running it through its paces before a wort is involved. Any tips and tricks? My first with this equipment will be a maibock. According to the yeast 50 degrees during fermentation. A rest is in order. Unplug the cool and plug in the heat right away? I noticed Spike...

    Morebeer plate filter.

Using this product for the first time. Hooked up between to kegs. Mildly bubbly liquid going in. Almost all foam with a little clear liquid in the bottom of the tube. Is this normal? Went around and made sure everything is tight. Not leaking any liquid or gas that I can hear.

    Ordered a Flex.

I forgot to order the barb for after the valve. Can't tell if I need the TC barb, or the 1/2 threaded barb. Which one?

    New fermenter.

I have been trying to go stainless. First the Spike CF5. When the flex came out I thought well that it. I just can't pry my wallet open. How the Speidel fermenters? Anyone had infection problems because of the spigot? I've seen videos on how you can do pressure transfers with these things...

    When to pitch.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I may be pitching when the wort is to warm. Sometimes about 80 degrees. I'm just in a hurry to get thinks buttoned up. I heard a podcast where a guy said he cools a little below the temp he wants to give the yeast a cool start. So that got me thinking about how I...

Is a closed transfer really necessary?

I've got to make a decision on which fermenter I'm going to buy. Its going to be a stainless something. How many of you are okay with your product without going through the trouble of a closed transfer?

    Brew Bucket techniques?

Trying to pull the trigger on one of these. Couple of questions. Have they upgraded their gaskets? What is your technique if you get a cooled wort in and discover you have a leak?

    Exposure to O2.

I've read about many going through great lengths to put oxygen into the post boil wort. Air stones, oxygen tanks, aquarium pumps ect. I think I read it only puts about 8 to 10 ppm back in? If it this hard to put it back in how can a nice gentile post fermentation transfer exposed to the...

    What made your beer better?

I need a new fermentation vessel. I've been pouring over videos and reviews and many say a conical does nothing to make your beer taste better. So, what practice, piece of equipment, or technique has made your beer better since adopting a technique or deploying said equipment?

    Scottish Ale and Oak chips

I have a five gallon batch I'd like to try the oak chip trick. Boiled and then soaked in bourbon. How much for how long?

    Oak Barrel?

Thinking about aging in an oak barrel. I was listening to a podcast and this guy said you can add a cup of bourbon to the corny keg and fill it up, and get roughly the same result. Anyone try this with good results?

    Questions on water for Maibock?

This is my water report. http://www.pueblowater.org/images/files/Water_quality_summary-finished_water.pdf If you could adjust one thing what would it be, and how? Using Campden to treat Chloromine. Half tablet. How exactly? Crush and let it sit for how long? Stir?

    Disappointed.

I recently took the plunge into all grain. My last three brews have been disappointing. Off flavors and cloudy appearance kind of have me wondering if this is all worth it. What do you do when this happens?

    Yeast harvest screwup.

One style I seem to always go back to is a small kolsch. This time I collected the yeast, but didn't not do it right. Instead of going for the middle layer I poured it off and kept the bottom layer. Is this salvageable? Or should I just dump it and try again next time?

    Hop drying question.

I have been harvesting Cascades for the last couple of weeks. Setting them out on a screen to dry in a hot shed for a couple of days and then into a lawn and leaf bag. I picked up the bag today and noticed everything in the bag is moist again. Here is a photo. Can I dry this out again...

    More hop questions.

Is it to late to order rhizomes? If not where?
  19. Goose5

    Two questions.

I have a second year cascade plant. Got decent first year production out of it. This year my lab decided to declare war on this plant. It had several binds starting when my dog chewed all of this growth off and then tried to dig it up. I covered it up and watered it well. 1. Do you think...

    Home hops question?

I have a brew that changed on me mid stream. So, I'm open to a little experimentation with this batch. Question. What are any tips and tricks to home grown hops added to secondary. What needs to be done to prepare them for secondary?
