    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

I bought my paintball reg through kegconnection and that reg has worked just fine for me. I've pushed more than 30 gallons on one fill (I think I'm using 20 oz tanks) and haven't had to switch to the backup yet.

    Three Points of Failure

Happyvdubber, This was actually my first 10 gallon batch, but the early addition could certainly do it. I'll cut it down to 5-10 minutes before the end of the boil next time and see how things go. Just as I was leaving for work the clumps were starting to slowly break off and fall to the bottom...

    Three Points of Failure

Happyvdubber, Just one tablet. Everyone, Ok, thanks for the heads up about the cold break. I don't know why, but I've never gotten cold break before. Or at least I've never seen it kick up like this so I was concerned that I did something else wrong or that I might be making alcoholic...

    Three Points of Failure

Hi guys. I had a weird night brewing last night where I either screwed up or tried new things three times and I'm wondering if someone can tell me what I have going on here. I'm just doing a light cream ale that I've done before and I have an oatmeal-like cake forming at the top during primary...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

BBBF, I had the same question and problem, but mine is (semi) permanently attached. Luckily, the cooler fits in the backseat, but turned sideways (sidewall against the seat). On top of that, I put my seatbelt on the thing to keep it in place (just the lap belt as the shoulder belt a] would run...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

Gryphon, I've had good luck transporting my beer and having it be extremely clean and drinkable immediately. However, I always use a secondary fermenter and have very little sediment in my kegs as a result of this in combination with force carbing instead of sugar. The only time I've had an...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

Ok, final shots now that the portable kegerator has been used 3+ times: Drip tray (10" with 2" splashback). Gas manifold closeup (2 switch manifold running to outside of cooler with 2 3/8" barbs on a 2" long x 3/8" nipple). The portable regulator and paintball 20 oz canister...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

Vongo, I followed the same approach as outlined by Whutever. I used a 2" long x 3/8" nipple with two 3/8" x 3/8" barb ends. I don't actually have that in my current pictures, but I'll upload now that I have that completed. I also added a drip tray to the front (10") and a water bottle holder...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

Well, the major parts are complete. I haven't hooked up the manifold yet because I don't have my paintball canisters full yet, so I'm using my 5 pound tank instead. Still trying to figure out the correct dispensing pressure (too much foam so far). I'm also kinda drunk from too much "testing"...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

Ok, the parts are all in and I hope to start building (and hopefully finish) by tonight. I did have a question about the original post. 10' 3/16" ID tubing 2 - 4 1/2" faucet shanks with 1/4" tail pieces Note the tube size and the tail piece size. Now that everything is here, the tube...

Will kegged beer taste bad if its cold, warm, then cold again?

Hi guys. Reviving an old message. I'm new to kegging, but this post interests me as I am trying to determine whether I'll be force carbing at room temp over time or chilling, carbing, and then letting the keg warm back up to room temp (I don't have sufficient cooling space currently to handle my...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

OK, here are some interesting (or are they?) shots. First, the base of my cooler. Note the difference between intrusion into the cooler for the axle that runs the entire length of the back/bottom of the cooler versus the circular wheel housing intrusions on the left and right sides. Later...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

Kirk, Some of the new 3g kegs coming out have a thin extruded lip on the top of the skirt that adds a little (annoying) bit to the diameter. Enough to frustrate in the first place. The second part is again the actual wheel house intrusion, not the axle intrusion in the back. Even though I know...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

Ed, The shanks are still on their way. I ordered 3" shanks which should have a little over 2" of usable length. I'll let you know if they fit or not once they show up and I have time to install them. Joe

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

Ok, it looks like I have things working now. I completely cut out 1/2 of one of the legs (I lined up the gas and liquid lines appropriately first to make sure I cut the correct legs). The keg now drops fully onto the lip in back. Note, this was not completely to the bottom of the cooler itself...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

Ohhh, so notching a leg rather than trimming it. I misunderstood. I'll give that a shot and get back with the result.

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

Ouch. Well, that can be done, but my kegs seem to be exactly the wrong kind for this trimming as they have a large dimple in the middle of the base of the keg that almost touches the ground as well. That'll have to be trimmed too or I can deal with kegs that can't sit flat... I noticed that the...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

Attitude, When you say that you trimmed out the sides, did you mean that you trimmed the cooler sides or the keg sides? I've already purchased all of my parts, but to my dismay I found that my 3g kegs don't fit either. I have a brand new 70 quart igloo max cold cube and 3g kegs of the...
